So with the advent of the Lightweight Frame, I was wondering if Generic Phantoms might start creeping into lists.

LWF offers an additional die on all defense rolls when you're outgunned, which makes it arguably better than the Stygium, as an Evade token only applies once.

A Sigma Squadron Pilot with FCS, RecSpec, and LWF runs 32 points. 32 points might be a touch high, even for 4 attack dice and the mobility and armor of cloak. For that much, Imps might just be better off grabbing a PalpTaxi.

What do you folks think?

thought about it a lot actually. I love flying Phantoms, but usually get crushed doing so (keep forgetting to decloak)

I'm not sure they can replace Stygium... as green dice blank out, and when they do... you wished you had that evade token. Only way to find out is to play test it.

I played against a list recently that was 2 sigmas with stygium and 2 of the PS3 stikers.

I found stygium much more annoying than light weight frame would have been because that evade token was guaranteed whereas an extra green dice is only a chance to block extra damage. Add to that the fact that when shooting at range 3 or through a rock, LWF does nothing for you in most cases, whereas stygium gives you an evade in addition to having 3/4 green dice.

As always, situational. Generally in the 100 pt match against anything but a swarm, the evade token is stronger. Even so, in anything bigger, or where you are expecting to be under fire from many sources, that one evade does not last very long.

Give them both with the Royal Guard title. If they call you out on that title not working for phantoms, just point to your ship (which you painted red) and say, "That looks like a Royal Guard TIE to me".

I already posted ligthphantom list a while ago and my idea was:

Shadow + FCS + LF x2

Starkiller + Palpi.

Pretty scary firepower - in theory it should survive (3 greens, one got 2 actions, second got palp - so not so easy to hit also). You can downgrade to Sgmas to squeeze FCS onto starkiller.

Also lightframe does not impede with our shooting in any way - and thats the point.

but with Light Weight Frame you don't have to Cloak so you can shoot in the rounds in which you use it where as with Stygium you have to cloak and de-cloak so you can only shoot ever other turn also I have found that using LWF means you can use U-turn more that if you use Advanced Cloaking Device how ever ACD allows you to shoot and cloak every turn. I mainly run Whisper with VI, FCS, ACD and change here crew around a bit but I've used her with LWF a few times and I have found she becomes more aggressive as it is less of a matter of avoiding stress as ACD is a free action so you don't get when stressed but you get TL from FCS and Focus from Her Ability even while stress so LWF allows and can reward more aggressive flying
