This whole thread is WTF?
I think OP does regret it now, lol. I wonder why FFG won't let you delete threads you create.

All numbers in armada round up, to a a whole number. Simple
I'm a teacher. I'm absolutely tired of hearing about how awful it is (from other teachers, parents, etc), when the kids I work with are clearly doing better with it
I'm glad it's working better for someone. It is not working better for my daughter, or for me. They kept making her use multiple methods to solve arithmetic when she had already figured out the right one for her. Now she dreads math homework more than anything because none of it makes sense to her. I'm still more of the opinion that America is lagging in STEM fields because we are attacking intelligence and not supporting schools and teachers, not because we never taught kids math mountains and pairings and drawing weird line sets and calling it good. But hey, if it really works than it really works. its very likely math just isn't my daughter's thing.
.33 can hardly be considered a third.
I would say you need at least a third significant digit and doing so nets you an extra .2 points that, rounded up get you to 134.
Im more concerned that the OP thought .33 = 1/3.
Lets get to an argument people can have without waxing political. Like is 1/3 an appropriate portion of the fleet to be squads or is .9999999999... = 1.
Edited by Church14Super simple, original game size was 300 points, 1/3 is 100. I think FFGs decision to bump the game to 400 points was indicative of their general business strategy "make **** up as we go, the player base can adapt."
Make up as they go? The original rules stated it would go to 400......

Yes, but at least we get to watch Gadgetron getting cut in half, a la Darth Maul, for all the smug ignorance contained in his post:
I mean, really, it's almost too good to be true of just how much stupid was packed into his two sentence pointless rant thread / cheap joke. And now we've gotten three glorious pages of him getting the responses that his post warranted.
"Now this IS posting!" - Young Anakin
Edit: as an aside, I feel a slight obligation to defend Episode I as not the worst Star Wars movie. It's bad, yes. But I think Episode II is worse, which would make this thread the Episode II of Armada Threads. The duel with Maul was fantastic, and personally I think it's the best lightsaber duel of the series. The scenes with Jar-Jar and the Gungans are just awful, but they can be almost entirely ignored from the film and you still get a decent assault on the capital by Padme's forces, a bad-assed duel, and a silly but passable space battle. Episode II had lots of cringe-worthy stuff too, like Dax the greasy-apron-wearing diner owning Alien, the whole "sand" romantic sub-plot, and the Tom & Jerry -esque antics of Threepio and R2-D2 in the droid factory. I agree that Pod Racing took way too much of the film and felt too long, but it still looked pretty neat and was visually exciting. I guess, end of the day, I find Kid Anakin slightly more tolerable than Romantic Tween Anakin, and I prefer Maul to Dooku or Grievous.
Edited by AllWingsStandyingBySaw thread title.
Had initial expectations of thread content.
Was not disappointed.
In the United States we recently reevaluated what basic proficiencies should be taught in k-12 and it included teaching math differently than parents grew up doing so they can't solve their kids homework anymore and everyone is a panic because Obama did it and Obama bad..... What The Hell is Common Core?
Except that Obama had nothing to do with it, it was created by the Western Governors Association, but it did happen on Obama's watch, so he sort of took credit for it. And Obama haters hate him so much that when he says he did something, they don't even stop long enough to find out if he really did it before declaring it evil incarnate, let stoping long enough to actually figure it out what it is.
The prequels were pretty awful (and yes, especially Episode II), but at least they gave us a whole lot of fantastic stuff in the EU.
I agree with II being the worst. Its like watching fun get rubbed by 80 grit SANDpaper for 2 hours.
Episode I at least had highlights. Episode III was like watching somebody make a Tarentino movie (long dialogue with no action and a high body count between them) into a PG event and rubbing Star Wars on it until it sold.
Listen guys. There's only one solution. We play Armada to determine if Common Core is a net benefit or not. We line up the two sides, everyone who doesn't line up has all their Armada collection smashed. Then we play games, smashing ships and squadrons as they fall, until only one side remains intact and playable.
Boom, debate over! 10/10 would recommend.

Exscuse me, but you'll see you mentioned Obama no less than three times and furthermore FFFFAAARRRRTTTT

None of this is true. Ben created common core so that he could use it to create this thread as part of his ongoing efforts to kill armada. Classic Ben.
.... What The Hell is Common Core?
Federally-recommended educational standards for grade school children in the US. It's popular for people who have no idea how it works to assume dumb children are the result of Common Core rather than, you know, just dumb children (we had plenty of them when I was going through grade school regardless of what the teachers did, let me assure you).
Common Core's math is about framing math equations in such a way that you can apply them better to every day life and to higher math. What you're talking about is called rounding up and I don't know how you got the two confused.
You know I disagree with you pretty frequently, but you get a big high five from me on this one.
In short, the OP could've been about why 1/3 is rounded up in our particular game but instead he attempted to make some kind of joke that only works with old people and it failed.
I taught basic math and English at a study center. Whatever they'r teaching now with Common Core or in general is working out much better than what I learned from traditional "old person" style learning. Kids work better together in groups, they all know what each other know nationally, and it works.
What it doesn't do is let the parents know how to solve their hw for them, so the parents think its stupid, get angry and scream online that Common Core is crap.
These type of jokes are extremely not welcome in the Armada forum. We already have instances where older folks locally, online and on other game forums act condescendingly, or require some sort of crazy egotistical authoritarian "respect" from younger folks that is totally in contrast to truth, rational sense and common dialogue. They want to be treated immediately as First Class citizens of overriding authority, not common human respect for one _another_.
Please let people know not to do this.
Basic math doesn't say that. Basic math says you can round to the nearest whatever you'd like.Basic mathematics says you only round up at .5 and higher. This travesty is why the system is doomed to fail.
