What Other Minis Does Imperial Assault Scale With?

By jscott991, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I'm curious about what scale Imperial Assault is. I've heard it's a bit bigger than 28mm.

Does anyone else use other brands of minis to simulate custom Sith or Jedi characters?

It's pretty close to 28mm. Maybe a tiny bit bigger. Somewhere between 28mm and 28mm "heroic" like Games Workshop stuff.

It also varies a bit depending on the figure. I believe the larger stuff (like the AT-ST) is scaled down a bit to fit the square size.

You could easily get away with using 28mm or similar figures in IA, but be aware that for "official" events, it needs to be very clear what/who the figure is.

I've found that almost all IA figures are the same size as the Star Wars Miniatures that Wizards of the Coast produced for a while (now out of print).

And those are the same size as WotC's D&D Miniatures.

I doubt I will be playing in any tournaments. :)

I was just curious about using the figures to represent extras or custom characters.

Thanks!

I think they are 30-32 mm.

I think the WOTC minis are slightly smaller but not too far off.

I think this game is also the same scale as Gears of War the Board Game.

Does anybody have both WotC mins and FFG minis they could do a comparison of? I'm just curious in the size differences between, say, Stormtroopers, made by the two companies. My fuzzy memory suggest that the WotC ones might be a little short to be a Stormtrooper....

Reason i ask is that we might be playing a few big games at our local store on a gridded table, with 3D terrain etc. Might be nice to have some alternate model poses for the nameless masses :)

Though the quality is so much worse on the WotC ones they will of course die first.....

The scale is close enough to standard 28mm that you won't really notice a difference unless you compare 2 figs of the same sort right next to each other. A WotC storm trooper and an IA storm trooper standing right next to each other will make the WotC one look not as bulky, but otherwise it's fine.

The only exception might be astromechs. The WotC astromechs were quite a bit smaller than the IA R2-D2 is.

Lovely, cheers :)

So what you're saying is...

They're a little short for Stormtroopers?

Sorry to resurrect this thread .. -_-

Lately I see a tendency to make minis bigger. IA minis are .. 35mm scale?
Royal Guards are 34mm to eye height and 37mm total ..
Officers about 32mm to eye height and 35mm total ..
Darth Vader is 35mm to eye height and 39mm total .. and he's not even standing upright.
Rebel heroes are hard to measure because they are all dynamically posed. But they are at least 32mm from head to toe, even the smallest of them.

I want to get some scenery for the game, but it's hard to decide what the choose given the choice between 1:48 (37.5mm) or 1:72 (25mm) scale.
I guess 1:48 comes closest here .. what do you think?

That's because Luke is under the stormtrooper armor ... maybe ;)
