Baze Malbus on Braylen Stramm StressBot

By AT Leader, in X-Wing

still having a really hard time imagining why you wouldn't pay 2 more points to not have an upgrade that's actually literally objectively worthless when you only have one target that you can fire at

especially given that mindlink lists have two very squirrelly and fast ships in Asajj and Manny (hell, Rau too if flown cautiously)

and that mindlink and manny have no range limitations and therefore no need to fly in close knit formation

and all of the ships are higher PS than good ol Failin' Braylen

Because you want to be the guy to win a regional with Baze?

I want to be the guy to have an upgrade that does something

Baze rarely if ever does

and if gunner is apparently a bad comparison because, oh no, it's 2 points more expensive for a near infinite improvement in effectiveness, there's the far cheaper and far more easily enabled tactician

in fact, for 3 points, you can get Tactician Thane instead of Baze Braylen (alliteration yay)

which is not only far easier to enable, and can double stress something besides mindlink, but also comes packed with more mods due to his ability

Hell, even if you cut braylen gunner for baxe to get VTs or something, tactician thane wpuld still be FAR superior (VT roll pff of thane ability is great fun and really screws some opponents over)

Baze is, sadly, just a very poorly designed upgrade card that will have a very marginal or non-existent impact on your games

What about Baze on Captain Rex? Wouldn't that let you suppress two ships a turn? That's all I've got for it at the moment.

unfortunately, no because it is a unique condition

Double stressing a single ship is pretty much the entire reasoning behind r3-a2 shenanigans. Being able to guarantee a ship will be actionless next round is more valuable in nearly every case than simply restricting the dial of 2 ships.

And for 2 points more, why not have the advantage of both options?

What is this build?

Ah, nuts. I only saw the small card, initially, thanks for setting me straight. And thanks for rekilling Baze.

At least we all learned that Fickle doesn't like Baze.
