KYY - TLT

By Armin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi!

I have put together the following list and I'm curious about your oppinion:

Miranda Doni (45)
K-Wing (29), Twin Laser Turret (6), Extra Munitions (2), Homing Missiles (5), C-3PO (3), Guidance Chips (0)

Gold Squadron Pilot (24) x 2
Y-Wing (18), Twin Laser Turret (6)

This is a total of 93pts, so I have still 7 points left.

My planned strategy is pretty straightforward:

Early game:

- Use the Y-wings to eat up the shields of enemy ships.

- Use Mirandas missilies early in the game, buff it to roll 5 die unevadable attack with guidance chips.

Mid-game/Late game:

- Use TLTs to put continous pressure on the enemy ships with the Y-wings.

- Use Mirandas skill to recover a shield each turn and use C3PO to to evade one attack die / turn.

I think the list is somehow week in the mid-game, therefore I'm considering adding some bombs to Miranda, but any comments are welcome.

Thanks!

Simple question. Is your meta standard right now?

If yes so, how you will deal with:

Dengaroo

Bossk/Dengar

Parattani

3x Defenders

Palp Defenders

I think Rebel matchups will be the easiest for your list.

Also maybe add bombs to Y-Wings, or at least Miranda.

Dengaroo should not be too much of a problem. You can't chase Manaroo with those ships so concentrate on Dengar. Keep your distance from him and wear him down with TLTs. Avoid shooting at him with a ship in his front arc and you will deny him his retaliation shot. With only 3 red dice, it will take him a minimum of 3 rounds to kill a Y-Wing if he rolls well and the Y-Wing rolls badly.

3 Rounds of TLT fire from 2 or 3 ships should seriously damage Dengar to the point that he should be down to his last few hull by the time you lose your first Y-wing. Then you can chase after Manaroo at your leisure and win on points even if you can't catch her.

Bossk/Dengar is harder, watch out for the Alpha strike. At least Miranda will be able to TL Bossk and tag him with a homing missile at long range which will give you a head start and a slight counter to his alpha strike (beware counter-measures though).

5-Dice homing missiles and TLTs are a decent counter to Defenders. You just need to concentrate your firepower to burn through their token stacks rather than spreading it out. In general, try to take out any ships that are acting as spotters for Vessery first (often this will be Ryad). Once he is out of buddies to feed him TLs, he is just an overpriced Glaive.

Parattani is going to be a hard match. I haven't played enough games against it to give a good answer here.

Bombs on K wing.

Drop C3PO on miranda for sabine, and get adv slam and cluster mines, plus some non action mines like ion bombs and proximity mines/thermal detonators.

If you got spare points, you can take stressbot (r3a2) on one of the y wings or r4d6. You can also try swapping one of the Y for HWK with C3P0 or tactician.

Test homing missiles, but do not hesitate to drop them. You will rarely get an opportunity to fire fully moded TL, focus homing missiles, and without focus they are generally not worth the cost, as you will get 3,75 hits, which will get you 1 or two shield with bad roll from defenders.

HWK with C-3PO, I think it is a bad idea

why not upgrade one y to a k and put a movement bomb on it? if you have points to upgrade a y to a k, always do it.

I'm gonna fly this:

K-Wing: · Miranda Doni (29)

Extra Munitions (2)

Homing Missiles (5)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Ion Bombs (2)

Guidance Chips (0)

· Rey (2)

Y-Wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

ARC-170: · Thane Kyrell (26)

· R3-A2 (2)

Vectored Thrusters (2)

· "Chopper" (0)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

You gain a bit of control with r3a2 and ion bombs, and fully modified homing missiles thanks to rey. Thane works as a semi Biggs if you fly it near miranda: if the enemy shots miranda thane will probably shoot with TL+Focus, if he shots thane Miranda will have more shields to spend on her attacks before she has to recharge... use the gold YW to flank, burn enemy tokens and block

Flying circle of death lists are soul destroying. They are effective, easy to come up with & easy to fly. Yours looks effective enough.
