When they decide to make a Modification to add Barrel Roll for large ships how much should it cost? We finally got the small ship version last wave so I would bet it comes eventually. What I couldn't decide is how much it would cost. My initial thought is 4 points like EU but I think boost is much more powerful on a large ship than barrel roll so it could be 3. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

I strongly believe they won't. They had to errata the barrel roll rules when the YT-2400 hit [EDIT: apparently that errata came with Expert Handling], and it would be a nightmare to balance, I imagine.

And really, and how many big ships would rather have BR over EU?

Three or four is what it would probably be. The big question might be due they want YTs to take it and Smuggling Compartments.

Personally, I wish this kind of mod would come out soon per rather than later. I've been playing around with Rey and been wanting a barrel roll over a Boost.

Giving Rey a barrel roll could open up numerous new maneuvers, and arc changing options especially if you use PTL; I'd say keeping her and Finn in arc would go up drastically, then add Kanan.

Expert Handling Rey is fun so I completely agree. Sadly EH has been overtaken by Expertise in my favorite Rey build. After the change to the barrel roll rules for large ships I don't really see any balance issues or they would have already errata EH to be small ship only.

If they intended to give large base ships the barrel roll action as a mod, they would have done it with Vectored Thrusters.

Making VT "Small ship only" should absolutely be read into as FFG not intending to give barrel rolls to the large base ships in general.

If they wanted to make the cost disparate for small ships vs large, they would have simply added a line to VT, "If this card is equipped to a large ship, increase its squad point cost by X."

Any ship, large or small, with native boost is going to think of Autothursters before ANY other mod. Autothursters are pretty much an autotake at this point for any ship with boost and I don't think giving large ships access to BR is going to change that.

Well there was Expert Handling... that's the card that made them change the rules on how Large ships Barrel Rolled. Before, they did it just like a small ship.

3 points make it a tough decision (flexibilty over cost)

For Rey/Finn combo being "in arc" is pivotal BR would help them immensely

Only Firesprays should be given barrel roll. They need the help.

Quite a few.

EU is mostly for turning or jumping from R3 to R1, barrelroll is great for side-stepping a rock or getting that arc you juuuust missed. Not to mention a large base moves quite a bit when barrelrolling (forward/backward).

Firespray, Iggys, Lancer, Lambda, or Ghost would kill for a barrelroll.

BR for large ship mod? 10 Points at least. And begging three times in a row your opponent for forgiveness for playing such a list. At least there is no large ship with native boost, else you would have dash like ships all over the ... oh IG-2000 ...
