VT-49 Decimator Is Just a Medium Base ship

By Sygnetix, in Star Wars: Armada

Wut? Yea. A 360 degree firing arc, 1 shot per turn, 3 dice, speed 3, range 1, 8 hull medium ship with no shields....for 22 points.

Ships don't get tied down.

.. Can only shoot to short range, does not count CRIT as points of damage, cannot resolve critical effects...

Its in many ways, both tougher, and more fragile... Slower, and Faster... More and less Powerful... in either configuration.

Ships don't get tied down.

then give it grit and make it 24 points :D

lol, the good times.

The crits not counting as damage is the biggest draw back for me. People think they will be able to solo small ships or flotillas but I just don't see the damage potential that everyone else seems to...

I do. When these things connect it's brutal. A brace is still going to cause two damage in, and redirecting that just exhausts two tokens. Even getting all three results on each die can be good against ships with only one redirect.

The more I use them the more I'm liking them over TIE Defenders. They can do lots of damage against fighters and have a lot of potential hurt for capital ships

For reasons others state, I find that they just get burned down, just like the Decimator in X-wing if you throw enough at them.

I won't take Squadrons that can't damage Scatter-Aces and Flotillas.

Because then I'm starting to take multiples for that unified purpose - and no doubt, I'll get more out of spreading those points.

I think scatter aces are sort of a check against decimators, which does prevent commanders from spamming them and encourage more mixed-squadron lists. Flotillas' scatter can be stopped by decimators blue battery though, if you can get an accuracy.

The obnoxious 8 hull on these things means X-Wings better roll well to carve away half their health. Counter 1 as well, and they have a better chance of doing the same on the attack when focused against ships.

I've only been disappointed with one game running my VTs (which use proxied ATR-6s from TIE Fighter...). In every other time I'm stamping out fighters and blowing off shields on large-medium ships. Their only problem is Speed, but they can only be so good. If you want the best balanced fighter in the universe sans bomber, take TIE Defenders.

Can't wait for the Kessel Campaign where they add in Ocion that can damage squadrons by just touching them. Also more stickers.
