Two questions from an out of the loop player

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada

Also, Clon's list in modern iterations go up to 4 good squadrons or more.

Derivatives of Clon's list. :D

Clon has yet to return from the african wilds to grace us with the one, true, modernised version of his list.

...

However, when he does, I will tell him this:

Oiyojux.gif

Again, why does it have to be Clon's modern iteration. It could be anyone's. Meaning also ones we see in local tournaments now. By random people.

Why are you singling me out for nitpicking on my English? Also, nitpicking English is kind of rude, and White-Anglo Saxon Western-centric.

I'm not at all, I was making (and further perpetuating) a Joke, that ClonTroper5 made. Himself. That he had the one True Clonisher List. To the point that he had me paint up the One True Clonisher Gladiator Model, again, as a Big Joke.

So I'm sorry you didn't get the Joke.

Good job racially profiling me though. That was relevant.

You're making a lot of logical leaps today for some reason.

You can be any sort of person who's very versed in English to do this: Its a very snide way of demeaning people who don't think about language the same way you do or according to traditional English. Be it different life callings or different languages or cultures.

In jokes are clique-y, demeaning in the sense of making those who don't get it feel like outsiders. Honestly, not behavior I'd want to normalize.

Also, you didn't address the topic in question either. And deMSU modern iterations?

I take all lists seriously.

Except my own.

I mean, I'm going to lose anyway.

And it never had real success outside of vassal.

Except those regionals Mike McCann played in....

I also found it effective on the table. Although I hated myself for playing it.

Not those interdictors, that list sounded awesome and if I had two of them its something i'd want to play one day.

I could bring Dodonna the Oppressor back but I need more of a feel to the meta first. . .

Was that squadron based? Someone here has a Dodonna bomber list. Hell, here they're ALL bomber lists.

Dodonna the Oppressor was 2 MC30's and 3 TRC90's with Intel Officer's to burn tokens

I haven't forgotten Dodonna the Oppressor.

Or Vader Duet.

I'll happily ridicule the modern iterations as well :)

Ahhh to be forgotten after being ridiculed so much for bringing it up so often. . .

Guess who never had to play against it. =)

Second, I believe in the first iteration, he did not have to go up against mass bomber lists.

I got knocked out of the quarterfinals by him with my AF/AF/Yavaris/5A/5B list. Tabled on turn 3. There were several bomber-heavy lists in that tourney, and he did the same thing to every one. Indeed, the reason he built it in the first place was as an answer to both the Ackbar conga lines that people were still running at the time and the bomber wings that the forums kept recommending as the easy counter to the conga lines.

In fact, in my opinion his biggest innovation was not his Demo build--which has been a thing since Wave 1--but in figuring out how to counter Intel and bomber wings with Instigator and token escorts so that he could minimize his squadron defense investment to focus better on killing ships.

DtO will have a hard time now without some substantial revision. The only squadronless build I've personally seen be successful right now is my own Mothma MC30 swarm, specifically because MM counters rerolling bombers. Add to that the fact that 5 activations will no longer reliably give you activation advantage, the difficulty you'll have in efficiently popping flotillas, and the fact that MC30 Scouts are still overpriced ( ;) ), and you're looking at a pretty significant rebuild.

That said, Sato the Expressor might be a thing if you built it right...

I am a big boy. I can take it ^_^

Mothma's Angels does not work so well btw with Sato but I am still working on it. . .

My wave 4 build replaced a TRC90 with 2 Control Transports. I likely would need a lot of tweaking. . .

I am working an MC30 Scout and 4 CR90 list with X-wing cover. Testing with Mon Mothma and Cracken to see which admiral I like more. I am not a squadron ball kinda guy so I'm finding ways to avoid them and mitigate them.

Not enough firepower I think. . . It is why I used 2 MC30's. That way I would be able to drop bigger ships.

On a sidenote. . . I would not worry about flotilla's too much. TRC's and Intel Officer have a lovely way to mitigate Flotilla's and their defense tokens.

Your two MC30's will still work exactly the same but shooting them at flotilla's is kind of a waste of their potential

early testing indicates that it can clean up larger ships, but it is in early testing......

Sure it is a waste of potential but if it takes out a ship and there are nothing left at least it was taken care of

Man I went bananas on this topic a while ago. It doesn't matter if you aren't point efficient in how you kill your opponent's ships, so long as you kill your opponent's ships! Burn them! Burn them all!

I think its a player problem, and everyone is not getting what they personally want. some want big ships to rule the battle and others are ok with fighters being a powerful weapon.

I think Star wars is about the need for a mixed force and the game is not broken or even bent a little. ;)

Mentioned before and will always be mentioned again:

The in game benefits and effects of a flotilla are not directly reflected in their points cost/award.

Killing a flotilla is activation advantage.

Killing a flotilla is forcing them to use ships to command squadrons.

Killing a flotilla is still points.

Killing a flotilla is just plain good.

This is a very valid point!
