Create a Character!

By Etaywah, in Star Wars: Destiny

I started this thread in the CardgameDB forums, but this forum seems to get quite a bit more action. So Here's my Maul:

Darth Maul

16/20

Blue Villain, Unique

11 HP

1 Melee

2 Melee

3 Melee (1R)

1 Disrupt

1 Resource

1 Blank

During the setup phase, place a character token on this character.

Before this character would be defeated, you may remove a character token from this character to heal 6 damage from this character.

After this character is dealt damage, you may remove a character token from this character to ready it.

"Always two there are, no more, no less." - Master Yoda

The idea sort of stemmed form wanting some duality in the character. So you can either choose a defensive or an offensive strategy for Darth Maul, whichever serves you best for the game. Personally I think the dice is a bit OP, but weigh in and let me know.

Edited by Etaywah

So basically he's got about 17-19 health? Seems a bit good to me.

The Bala Tik-esque effect is cool but I can't typically see anyone using that effect unless they are sure it will win them the game, most would just bank the 6-8 health and grind out the win.

As for a character that might be useful, I dislike the fact that Heroes don’t have a 7 point generic option:

Saw's Smugglers (Yellow Hero) 7 Health

1 Melee

1 Ranged

2+ Ranged

1 Resource

1 Disrupt

1 Blank

Action:

Exhaust this character to gain 1 Resource

Simple, slightly underpowered for damage output (and mixed as well) but as a support character it gives you the option of having 3 or possibly 4 resources on turn 1 guaranteed. Who knows maybe this might actually be a little OP but with the hired guns having 2 resource sides its not unreasonable to get 4 reasources on T1 currently anyway.

Jar Jar Binks: Clumsy Gungan

Yellow_ Hero_ Eight Health_10-12 Deployment Points

Side 1: +1 Melee Damage

Side 2: +1 Ranged Damage

Side 3: 1 Resource

Side 4: Special

Side 5: Blank

Side 6: Blank

Special Text: Unpredictable Chaos, Reroll All Die in Play & Roll Every Unexhausted Character and Support's Die.

Maybe have another disrupt face since that's kind of what they did throughout the film--disrupt Imperial resources. Also they're known as The Partisans btw.

Unique Blue Hero for only 10? And it's Yoda? Seems a bit too strong IMO. I get the thematics though, I just see him as being stronger than that.

It's meant to represent old mentor Yoda, as opposed to younger Jedi bad@$$ Yoda.

As far as cost goes, he's pretty par with Veers. I also made him intentionally cheaper so you can run eYoda/Luke or eLuke/Yoda because...that's a thing you should be able to do. Also, eYoda/Padawan/Rebel Trooper, etc.

Personally, I think his role as a mentor is more important/iconic than his role as a fighter. Wars not make one great.

His cost would be 11/15 because of the action.

How's that head fit in that helmet? :D

This guy will most likely make more sense in the future once more droid support are availble. More of a conceptual character than anything.

2x [special] - exhaust a droid support, turn its die to any side and resolve if it's not blank. If you set it to blank, rather than resolve the die, repeat this process with another droid support instead.

You may start the match with 2 resource worth of droids already on the battlefield.

Nebits ability can accomplish 2 things - getting all droid support dice in the pool for a future reroll or to resolve a needed ability. You can actually combine both but the chain will end if you run out of droids or immediately resolve one. Points may be off but it is heavily influenced by the quality of droids available

Action: Reroll a yellow dice. If you roll a blank, deal Salacious Crumb 3 unpreventable damage.

"YAAAA AH hahahahahaha!"

Salacious Crumb was a stow-away on one of Jabba's ships, and was found and captured by Bib Fortuna. Instead of being killed he was offered a deal: Please Jabba or make him laugh once per day and he could eat and drink as much as he pleased - fail, and be killed. Salacious Crumb has one job and one job only - please his master, or die.

The discard and +1 discard make for some devastating combinations with Jabba, essentially allowing for some 3-4 card discard resolves.

At 5/8 he slots in perfectly with eJabba, eBala Tik, Salacious.

He also slots in with eJango, Raider, Salacious.

Clearly he's meant for mono yellow.

Wanted a thematic cantina character that would fill a support/defense role. As a bartender in the cantina, Wuher has access to many black market contacts, providing resource generation for you and resource denial for your opponents (for the right price). But remember, if you want his help, you better leave your guns at the door...

I started this thread in the CardgameDB forums, but this forum seems to get quite a bit more action. So Here's my Maul:

What about:

During the setup phase, place a character token on this character.

Before this character would be defeated, you may remove a character token from this character to heal 6 damage from this character. Remove 1 character dice from this card.

After an opponent's character is defeated, you may remove a character token from this character to ready it.

It's thematic, and it makes the ability not as good as second chance...since the ability is built into the character. I think 17 health is too strong, but if you cut his dice in half, that extra half-life (heh), would be reduced effectiveness at least.

They were manipulated into the service of the Empire, acting as spies, bodyguards, and commandos. I think you made this one a tad too strong for the points. Like...she seems a bit out of balance, mathematically.

That said, love the flavor. That on feels like she's rolling bombs out at you. Kudos.

Yes you are right, I forgot to account for the special being guarenteed damage. The price point should be 12/16.
