Who will the other characters be in SoR? (Speculation)

By dpb1298, in Star Wars: Destiny

I don't get why everybody think there will be 4 character per color (per side) as in Awakenings.

Looking at mere numbers I guess:

160 cards is due to 174 (Awakenings) - 14 (Starter only cards/dice) = 160

I think that there will be a slight reduced number of rares/legendaries:

67 cards with die in Awakenings - 7 Starter cards with die: 60 rare + legendaries

(maybe 45 rares / 15 legendaries or something along that line).

My main guess is that Spirit of the Rebellion will feature only three characters per color (per side).

Numbers on the spoiled cards seems to point to that direction actually: Jyn, for example, is a Yellow Hero character with #44 while in Awakenings the first Yellow Hero Character (Finn) is #45.

Even if Jyn was the first Yellow Hero Character (I think she is the last one) there will be one less neutral card at least within the rares.

Furthermore, I guess they will leave more characters on the biggest set of the year.

Following this thoughts at the end of each cycle (3 expansions) we will get 10 new characters per color (per side)

Except Lukas has said that there will be 24characters per expansion in the panel at the pre-release. The difference in Jyn to Finn can be accounted for by the removal of the starter only non-character card F11-D Rifle.

Oops totally missed that! Is there a link to the interview/announcement?

What do you think about the rest of my speculations?

I am confident that Baze Malbus will appear as a Yellow Character easily playable with Cirrut with a perfect 30 points combination (a la eHan/Leia Han/eLeia)

Baze could also be a blue character (he is a Temple Guardian as Chirrut) but which would allow Red Hero weapons in his deck

Aanndd now I can't find that announcement re the character numbers, I will keep looking.

If Baze is in this set then the prequels will be further underrepresented - which some will say is not a bad thing - but says to me that the next set would have more of a prequel/clone wars focus.

Furelli

The announcement has been made in podcast such as Chance Cube. They did an interview with Lukas in which he has said that they want to keep it 24 characters each set. If I remember correctly it was also on another podcast such as Knights of Ren in which the same has been said. Both podcast have had Lukas on and that would be a great place to start if you are seeking confirmation. Hope that helps...

Furthermore RO has more iconic Heroes than Villains.

So I think:

Red Villain: Director, Deathtrooper

Blue Villain: (I don't know maybe nobody)

Yellow Villain: (Ditto)

Red Hero: Cassian Andor

Blue Hero: Chirrut

I can't think about Chirrut without Baze

Yellow: Jyn, Baze?

I just want a Kit Fisto at some point.

Alrighty so here's my unwanted crackpot two-cents guess:

The way I see it, they could go two ways with this set: either continue the trend from Awakenings, where per faction and per color there's one Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, and Sequel Trilogy character plus a generic, or they could buck the trend and make most of the new heroes be from Rogue One. Since it's easier and more fun for me to predict based on the former, that's what I'll be using as my template. Many people here seem to be guessing that the Rogue One characters will be replacing the Original Trilogy slot—but for me, that doesn't make sense. There's far more unexplored characters from the Original Trilogy than the Sequel Trilogy; I actually predict that the Sequel slot will be made to include characters from the Side-Stories as well, making it an all-around "Disney Canon" slot. Keep in mind, though, that Awakenings was flexible with its own format: Hero Red got two Original Trilogy characters instead of a Prequels one. I also predict that they'll be trying to include generic characters from different eras than they did last time, to make it more diverse. Alright, so here goes:

Hero Blue:

Prequel: Mace Windu (I think Yoda will appear in a later set and be hyped like Palpy was for this one).

Original: Obi-Wan Kenobi (as Old Ben. Possibly leaked?)

Disney: Chirrut Imwe (confirmed)

Generic: Jedi Sentinel

Hero Yellow:

Prequel: REPLACED by Baze Malbus (can't see him as Red—he doesn't command anything)

Original: Chewbacca (Possibly leaked?)

Disney: Jyn Erso (confirmed)

Generic: Jedha Partisan (they're less "military" than normal Alliance soldiers IMO)

Hero Red:

Prequel: Commander Rex (TCW era. Cody was in the actual Prequels, but Rex is a more prominent character)

Original: Mon Mothma (I think someone said she was confirmed. If not, switch my guess to Wedge Antilles)

Disney: Cassian Andor (don't see him as Yellow—he's a Rebel Officer, so he commands things)

Generic: 501 st Trooper (or possibly just "Clone Trooper")

Villain Blue:

Prequel: Darth Maul (Phantom Menace era. Seems like a shoo-in)

Original: The Emperor (confirmed)

Disney: REPLACED by the Grand Inquisitor (IMO we know too little about Snoke to give him a card)

Generic: Imperial Inquisitor

Villain Yellow:

Prequel: Cad Bane (although Aurra Sing at least was in a movie…)

Original: Dengar (would be Boba Fett, BUT Dengar appears lexically between "Death Trooper" and "Director Krennic," so I give the edge to this him)

Disney: Tasu Leech (a BIG stretch. Could also be given to a cartoon character—say give Zam the Prequel slot, and Cad Bane this slot)

Generic: Guavian Thug (Bala Tik needs friends!)

Villain Red:

Prequel: Nute Gunray (or any other of those lame Separatist councilors)

Original: Grand Moff Tarkin (had a huge role in Rogue One)

Disney: Director Krennic (confirmed)

Generic: Death Trooper (confirmed. I doubt there'll be two generics, so no Destroyer Droid for now)

Excited to see how wrong I am! Or if I managed to call any of them right.

Don't think the Maz card will be a character btw. We don't know yet all she can do--or if she can do anything of note. People are speculating she doesn't have the Force--but I don't think they KNOW for sure.

Interesting. Do you have a source for his? EDIT: As in a link, or a citation. Obvs I can see you gave a source...

There is a game on Asmodee Italy Facebook page: whoever will guess the sum of life points, die faces values and elite cost of IG-88 in the next expansion correctly will get a Rey Promo

Well, that comfirms that not all droids will be support - droids.

Oh that's ace. Thanks for sharing.

Can you link to the IG-88 Post?

I had a look and couldn't find anything on the page.

I want Bossk

I think that support - droids will be the harmless ones (BB-8, R2D2, C3PO...) and we will see one in each expansion, I bet.

"Fighting" droid (IG-88 maybe a unique, others maybe troops) will be characters

Look at AsmoPlay Italia on Facebook.

It was a 24hrs contest. I guess the actual card will appear later this week in an official article on FFG/Asmodee main web site

double post

Seeing as he had a chance cube, we're definitely going to see Watto at some point. Maybe not this particular expansion, but eventually. And he'll likely have a bunch of focus and a special that prevents his dice from being manipulated by your opponent.

With the set being called "Spirit of Rebellion" and Rebels being under represented so far in the game, I actually think there may be more Rebels characters and content than we might have been shown so far.

Blue

1. Chirrut Imwe

2. Old Ben

3. Kanan

4. Anakin Skywalker (AOTC) - Mace Windu is a good guess, too, but I would think Anakin would actually fill out that sort of "mid-level" character role pretty well.

Red

1. Mon Mothma

2. Cassian Andor

3. Hera - I sort of wonder if she'd go here or in yellow? But red makes more sense to give the Ghost crew more variety color-wise.

4. Admiral Raddus - Gets us another RO character. Although maybe too soon after Ackbar.

Yellow

1. Jyn Erso

2. Chewbacca

3. Maz Kanata

4. Sabine Wren - Just because I think they'd try to knock a lot of Rebels out in one go, here, too if they are really adding them into this wave. It'd still leave Ezra, Chopper and Zeb to do from the main crew, not to mention Ashoka.

Villain :

Blue

1. Emperor Palpatine

2. Seventh Sister

3. Fifth Brother - I think it'd be interesting to release them both at the same time, perhaps complimenting each other

4. Darth Maul - MAYBE too soon? But we also have the Rebels version we can get to.

Red

1. Director Orson Krennic

2. Death Trooper

3. Agent Kallus

4. FN2199 (Nines) - or possibly Hux? Although I don't see Hux and Krennic being in the same set. A specialized trooper with some sort of way to combat Blue Force users would be cool, thematically tying in with his stun baton.

Yellow

1. IG-88

2. Cad Bane

3. Doctor Aphra - time to get some comics people in here, and she's prime material

4. Vizago - I'd say his run-ins with the Rebels crew leave him more on the villain side, even if he has no love of the Empire either

With the IG-88 reveal I am thinking we will get K-2SO. I am also thinking that both these characters may be Grey in card colour (like support droid BB-8 and suspected support droid R2-D2). Then if they stay with 24 characters I am thinking that we will be down 2 blues.

All speculation obviously. I am expecting non-uniques for villain and hero in minimum Red and Yellow.

Blue:

  • Mace Windu
  • Kanan Jarrus
  • Chirrut Imwe (confirmed)
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi (confirmed)

  • Darth Maul
  • The Grand Inquisitor
  • Asajj Ventress
  • Emperor Palpatine (confirmed)

Red:

  • Bail Organa
  • Hera Syndulla
  • Cassian Andor
  • Wedge Antilles

  • Director Krennic (confirmed)
  • Death Trooper (confirmed)
  • Grand Moff Tarkin
  • General Hux

Yellow:

  • Sabine Wren
  • Jyn Erso (confirmed)
  • Chewbacca
  • Maz Kanata (confirmed)

  • Fenn Rau
  • Dengar
  • IG-88 (confirmed)
  • Unkar Plutt

"Rebels" characters are a gamble at this point. So, any of those from the show listed above might as well be a generic character, in case it is not contemplated.

The other choices follow a "Prequels" - "Rogue One" - "Originals" - "Contemporary" sequence, one of each when applicable, as Awakenings did.

Perhaps, the most wtf choices above are the two ace pilots: Wedge Antilles and Fenn Rau. But Poe Dameron showed that pilots are applicable as characters for the game, so...; And, if Wedge isn't an option, my bet is on Nien Numb (Contemporary).

Maz Kanata could be a support/upgrade (she has a die is the only thing confirmed).

I'm still hoping Baze Malbus will be in SoR.

Grand Mox Tarkin AND general Hux Can't be there together.

There is a Red Villain within Director Krennic and Deathtrooper and I think characters will still appear in alphabetical order

You're right, Maz can be the face of a support card, indeed. But, unless FFG's willing to prioritize Rogue One above all else, Kanata is really the only choice left to capitalize on recent SW material. My guess is on her, with Baze left for the next expansion.

And I list Dengar in villain Yellow because of the number issue with Krennic and Trooper. Or does it have to be Red? I'm not sure on that...

The #2 character has to be Red AND with a name beginning with D, I guess.
