Who will the other characters be in SoR? (Speculation)

By dpb1298, in Star Wars: Destiny

As for the character I HOPE is in the next set? I think that is fairly obvious :)

Skippy the Droid?

Look at his name.

You sure can appreciate a joke, can you? ;)

Yes we can all appreciate a good joke :)

Regarding speculation I would assume that Cassian will be a red Hero but for the rest I'm not sure.

Caassian was a spy, so Yellow would also make sense.

While Cassian is an intelligence officer, he is also a soldier and a pilot, and he takes orders from military leaders under a formal military structure of hierarchy, James Bond he is not.

I swear there needs to be a sarcasm font for computers. So much more difficult to pull it off in text.

Jar Jar Binks! I can't wait to take my elite Jar Jar and Ewok deck up against the Emperor.

Jar Jar is an absolute must! I've already made his card.

Jar Jar Binks: Clumsy Gungan

Yellow_ Hero_ Eight Health_10-12 Deployment Points

Side 1: +1 Melee Damage

Side 2: +1 Ranged Damage

Side 3: Special

Side 4: Special

Side 5: Special

Side 6: Special

Original post updated with new speculation!

Jyn Erso.

aww yeah

If they stick to the same template as Awakenings, each color will have a non-unique character.

Lets see:

Heroes

Blue

Ben

Chirrut

Prequel/Clone Wars Jedi

Random force sensitive alien

(Assuming Ben is Legendary, otherwise I would have gone for Yoda to complement Palpatine. Also assuming we get a non-unique for each colour per set at this stage, though we may not).

Red

Mon Mothma

Cassian/Chewbacca

Baze

Random non-unique trooper

(Cassian and Chewie are kind of interesting, and will give us an idea how FFG sees the colours. On a micro level they fit one colour, on a macro level they fit the other. I'm guessing Cassian ends up Red and Chewie is yellow. If that's the case, I'd put Mon Mothma as the legendary, otherwise Chewie. Can't see Cassian being Legendary over Jyn. Can't see them putting in Chirrut and not Baze).

Yellow

Chewie/Cassian

Jyn

Maz? R2?

Random non-unique alien

(Again, kind of depends on where exactly design falls. My preference for the droids would be 'combat' droids being characters and pure support droids being, well, supports. R2 could fit either. But Maz could also fit as a support character ala Amidala).

Villains

Blue

The Emperor

???

???

Random Dark Jedi apprentice

(Not sure about this one, would depend on what exactly they want to draw on. The Grand Inquisitor is a solid guess for one of the slots).

Red

Krennic

???

Destroyer Droid/???

Death Trooper

(Destroyer Droid would make a lot of sense and fit the numbering, though it would break up the '1 non unique per colour' thing, so maybe not. Otherwise, could be just about anyone, I don't think we've got enough info to make a real guess, though if one slot is the Destroyer Droid the other may be more of a pure support. It probably won't be someone who would get Legendary billing over Krennic, so likely not Tarkin).

Yellow

ESB Bounty Hunter

???

???

Random non-unique alien

(Again, super open here. I'd be shocked if we don't get at least one ESB bounty hunter, quite possibly Boba himself as the Legendary. Otherwise, it really comes down to where they want to pull from - there's plenty of choices).

Someone on reddit speculated on Deputy Director Yularen a character which was featured in Clone Wars and the original Trilogy.

He would fit in with the numbering and the unique/non-unique pattern.

While it's possible, both the LCG and Rebellion have used Yularen under 'Colonel Yularen'. It seems like a bit of a stretch that they'd change it now. But yeah, there's certainly some other options.

Iam pretty sure we get different iterations of many characters as soon as a bunch of sets are released. I think its not that much of a strech to get a Deputy Director Yularen now and later down the road a Colonel Yularen. Also as far as i know Deputy Director was his latest rank before he got blown up with the death star.

10/something-else red Cassian to pair with eJyn please. Oh, and with Discards on the die to capitalize on Commando raid for a Hero discard deck :D

A character with your requierments already exists. Admiral Ackbar.^^

Edit: Nevermind u asked specifically for Cassian. xD

Except different iterations of the same character will have the same name and a different sub-header otherwise you will be able to play with both at the same time. So if we are getting multiple versions of Yularen then the card name will be Wulf Yularen with sub-headers of Deputy Director and Colonel.

Having seen the spoilers my predictions are:

Red Villain: Death Watch Pre Vizsla, Director Krennic, General Hux

Blue Villain: Maul, Palpatine, The Grand Inquisitor

Yellow Villain: Zam Wessell, Dr Evezan/Ponda Baba, Kanjikub

Red Hero: Mon Mothma, Cassian Andor, Commander Cody

Blue Hero: Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chirrut

Yellow Hero: Chewbacca, Jyn Erso, Maz Kanata

Thats a really good point. Under this premiss FFG already failed with the naming of Krennic. He reads Director Krennic and therefore prevents future iterations of Krennic which are not Director yet. Some goes for Ackbar, Phasma, etc. Iam really curios how FFG handles this in future sets.

Ackbar has been an Admiral in all of his appearances. Phasma probably isn't getting a promotion anytime soon. And spoiler alert Krennic is dead.

But yes, I agree. Palpatine is just so deliberately named to allow for sub-headers as is Leia that it does seem out of place for the others.

Yeah my examples are probably not that relevant at the moment but FFG set themself up for complications with possible future films, books, comics, series. Maybe we will get a Krennic origins story in the future or for example a story about pre cyborg Grievous (would total pay for everything associated with this!), etc.

Maybe its not that big of a deal but in my opionion they should have gone for a more conistent approach.

Time will tell. :)

Yes, but Cassian hopefully can fight too. Differing from Ackbar *cough*. While wishthinking I´d love 3 damage sides, 1 income and one focus, like Leia.

I´d love to make a "Desperate Operatives" deck in the vein of the movie. Focused on damage and discard using Thermal Detonators and all the card draw and cost reduction stuff in Hero Red-Yellow.

Visage it: Jyn enters the Emperor´s Throne room, Cassian trailing just behind, with a detonator in hand. "I´m not afraid of using this!"

To be fair, it may not be entirely FFG's fault on this. With the way copyrights work, something like 'Captain Phasma' may be the characters 'legal' name, or at least the name that Disney uses in terms of marketing etc. If that's the case, they may simply be using the names that they are allowed to use under the license, regardless of whether it fits the naming conventions from the rest of the game.

Now if I was a betting man, given that the set is going to have the Rogue One theme to it we should expect the Death Star.

So I would think that it will be a Battlefield that allows you to return a spent character dice and roll it into your dice pool. Now the Emperor just looks awesome sauce.

Darth maul. I will not rest until he is in the game. Only one of the best sith duelists of history. In a dueling card game.

I could see him having a dice similar to Grievous's . Except maybe switching out the Disrupt symbol for a Discard symbol. Or keep the Disrupt and switch the Resource symbol for the Discard one.

I don't get why everybody think there will be 4 character per color (per side) as in Awakenings.

Looking at mere numbers I guess:

160 cards is due to 174 (Awakenings) - 14 (Starter only cards/dice) = 160

I think that there will be a slight reduced number of rares/legendaries:

67 cards with die in Awakenings - 7 Starter cards with die: 60 rare + legendaries

(maybe 45 rares / 15 legendaries or something along that line).

My main guess is that Spirit of the Rebellion will feature only three characters per color (per side).

Numbers on the spoiled cards seems to point to that direction actually: Jyn, for example, is a Yellow Hero character with #44 while in Awakenings the first Yellow Hero Character (Finn) is #45.

Even if Jyn was the first Yellow Hero Character (I think she is the last one) there will be one less neutral card at least within the rares.

Furthermore, I guess they will leave more characters on the biggest set of the year.

Following this thoughts at the end of each cycle (3 expansions) we will get 10 new characters per color (per side)

I'm fully expecting some Star Wars Rebels characters in this wave. Hera (Red), Kannan (Blue), Ezra (Yellow), and the Grand Inquisitor (Blue) are my top guesses.

So this round we're getting the Dark Trooper. Should we expect a new Imperial Trooper each wave?
