Like as in the V-wing from the old Rogue Squadron game that you flew against the world devastators on Mon Calamari? That would be pretty cool. If I remember correctly its specialty was cluster missles
Think we'll ever get the V-wing?
Probably not, given its atmosphere-only role. It had pretty much zero space capability and it was only really a cluster missile delivery boat.
Probably not as we have canon Nimbus-3 V-Wings, which are a lot more likely to make it into the game.
Edited by SEApocalypseNo it's a game about star fighters not speeders.

And this was the V-Wing I thought we were talking about. I would like to see the Imperial gets this as an updated Clone Wars fighter like the Rebels got the ARC.

Empire should get the ETA-2 Actis. Vader kept flying his for awhile.

Nah, V-Wings were still part of the Clone army, which means any we see are gonna be leftovers like the Arc and probably Rebel. And this was the V-Wing I thought we were talking about. I would like to see the Imperial gets this as an updated Clone Wars fighter like the Rebels got the ARC.

(which is not to say I'm against the ETA-2).

Another ship with vader pilot would be welcome
I wish we could get the Rogue Sq. Vwing. Favorite ship in the game. Betwwen the Cluster Seeker Missiles and the rappid fire cannon that thing was a beast.
Unfortunately we probably won't see it as it is an atmospheric fighter.

More likely as Scum. It was to expensive for the Empire's tastes and was phased out pretty quickly. But the Hutts made pretty good use of it in Legends.
I have am imperial lego V-wing its sexy...
I would love the V-wing in this game one of my favorite looking ships.
(there is also a clone lego one, but it is way less sexy then the black imperial one).

If we didn't get the Snowspeeder I doubt we'll get the V-wing Airspeeder. Especially as there's another V-wing.
Not interested in it. Please give me a Blue Squadron X Wing pack! I want to fly General Moustache!
I'm too lazy to type out something new about the Imperial V-Wing so i'm just gonna copy and paste something i said from a few days ago
And the reason why that probably won't happen is two-fold. The first is because the V-Wing, ARC-170, and Eta-2 were phased out well before the Rebel Alliance was a thing. In the new canon novel Rogue One: Catalyst, around the same time that Jyn Erso is about 2(who was born before the Clone Wars ended), the last of the Imperial ARC-170s are fighting against the very, very beginnings of what would lead to the Partisans down the road(Because Saw Gerrera was there, and he'd be inspired by the battle to begin forming a guerrilla group that would become the Partisans, not because the people themselves that fought there all became the Partisans). Even then, TIE Fighters were already in service, and the ARC-170s and Venator Star Destroyers, merely 2 years after the end of the Clone Wars, were considered obsolete. Technically speaking, the Galactic Civil War hadn't started yet. The only reason the ARC-170 is in-game for the Rebels is under the pre-text that they are old fighters used by the Rebellion during the GCW. By the beginning of Rogue One, Jyn is 8-10 years old, meaning at least 6 years have passed since then. Considering that Episode IV doesn't occur until 16-18 years after the most recent use of Imperial Clone Wars era ships, there simply isn't justification for their addition to the Imperial faction.
But it's mostly that they would only serve to further cramp well-filled design space. The V-Wing is a fast swarm ship.... so, it's a TIE Fighter, TIE/FO at best. The Eta-2 was a blindingly fast interceptor.... so a TIE Interceptor. This is all in addition that unless every unique astromech is errata'd to say Rebel Only, which leaves, what, 3-4 astromechs, ANOTHER astromech type is needed. Yeah, they COULD Errata all of those cards, but why bother? If the V-Wing and Eta-2 dials were any good, you wouldn't need R2, R5 is worthless, Targeting Astro might see use if either ship has sloops or tallon rolls but for 2 points i doubt it, and what does a cheap, high agility, dice mod stacked interceptor need? R7 Astromech to dodge even more damage. And if they made a brand new astromech type, they'd have to release a bunch all at once to make the upgrade slot feel valid.
It's a big snafu of stuff that probably means it won't happen. The V-Wing and Eta-2 would probably end up in Rebel or Scum hands before Imperial, because those already have the upgrade slots needed to make it work. Probably Rebel, cause Scum is full up on swarm ships and interceptors whereas Rebels are not.
Plus, we all know that Imperials don't get small ships that don't start with "TIE".

Yeah, well in the long run that would just blow. That means there are a LOT of cool ships that would never see the table. And there is a lot of minutia that could make the ship just slightly different that an existing design. Different upgrade slots, a different dial, slightly different available PS. Probably not different enough for the meta, but fun for people who like the look of the ship.
It's like saying that because there is a Ford Mustang, there should be no Chevy Camaro or a Dodge Charger.
It might be the one time where fluff >>>>>gameplay, because you can pick a ship you like based on looks, not stats.

If you read the whole thing, which i dont think you did, i clearly said that Rebels have a much wider design space for those ships AND they also have chronological reasoning for having them in the first place.

I did read the whole thing, and everything I said still applies irrespective of faction. I find your argument that the Imperials would not have these ships fallacious, as would have been evident if you had read this post:

Right, the one part i DIDN'T C+P from the other thread.
Yeah, that happened within 2 years of the end of Episode III. Mind you, Episode IV happens 19 years after Episode III. In Catalyst, that exact same time frame is when Clone Wars era ships are being phased out, as ISDs, TIE Fighters, etc are already in service. The Rebel Alliance doesn't even exist for another decade. So, chronologically speaking, the Galactic Civil War era hasnt begun, and doesnt until the Rebel Alliance emerges as a paramilitary entity, fighting against the Empire.

I have that set, it was cool to see an non-TIE Imperial ship. Although I think the V-wing will probably show up on the Scum side first. AND the airspeeder can just stay in the video game and comic books.
No, I do not think we will see the V-wing in our current X-wing game; I think we are more likely to see most of the other prequel ships before the V-wing. I may be wrong here... but I think that the V-wing was actually one of the least interesting ... and least popular of the Republic starfighters from those movies.
good comments. What do you guys think about adding the A-9 Vigilance or the I7-Howlrunner from Dark Empire?

Eh.... Aside from the fact that it'll never happen for like, 1000 reasons(chronological issues, not being canon anymore, etc etc), i really don't like those fighters at all design wise. Like many say about Prequels ships, i think they just don't fit the Star Wars aesthetic at all. The A9 in particular is just ugly as sin, it feels more like a Star Trek ship, being visually similar to a Bird of Prey.

I would say you're probably partially wrong. The V-Wing isn't as unpopular as you might think. However, i think we'll get N1s before we get V-Wings, just simply because V-Wings havent appeared in a significant fashion in anything recently and N1s have. But, neither was the ARC-170, so.... who knows? I'm definitely a big fan of V-Wings(i certainly like them more than N1s), but if N1=Princess Leia as a pilot, please give me an N1. Please.
