First smaller ship fleet build- Feedback appreciated

By Milienius, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I really hate not bringing an ISD. It physically hurts me because if I have one why wouldn't I use it right? Anyway here it is:

This is personal preference. Let me preface this with that.

I'd commit the squadron wing to either bomber or anti-fighter. In my limited experience, without a full bomber wing, why bother? I've also noticed that fighters seem to be more prevalent than bombers as of late. That said, my personal bare minimum for anti-squadron squadron deployment is 2x TIE Advanced, Soontir Fel, Mauler, Lambda with Admiral Chiraneau ensuring Mauler procs. With this combo, you can "aoe" damage everyone within 1 from Mauler, plus they automatically take 1 damage every time they try and clear a TIE Advanced. If you can get Dengar in with this wing, you also get the Counter rolls, which can add up.

I have used IG88 on occasion in order to borrow through the escort/ignore the counter. When I stopped using some more carrier based upgrade cards, I stopped using IG88. If you dropped the TIE Defenders, you could add some escort to take pressure off your figher wing, or you could add some upgrades.

Thus far, it's been my experience to build your squadrons to neutralize squadrons and your ships to neutralize ships. Alternatively, accept you might encounter someone like me and add plenty of escort, plenty of intel, and commit to full bombers in order to assist your ships in tabling the opponent.

Looks good. My personal preference is to maintain TIE Advanced for their escort, though. For example, nothing here stops an opponent from baiting your fighter ball outside of command range, then killing the lambda. It's also my personal opinion that Intel is for bomber wings because fighter screens want to be stuck in (at least how I play them).

I would replace the TIE Interceptor squadron with a TIE ADV then and just go up the one point after I test this one. The problem with not having intel from my experience, even in a fighter only grouping, is that an opponent will try to pin down most of my fighters using only 1 or 2 of their own and trying to slip their bombers by. This at least helps off set that. Plus with Howlrunner Jumpmaster isn't awful at attacking.

I got you. It's just a difference of preferences and perhaps experience with opponents. Usually you can see the fighter intercept coming in. In those cases I get caught I jjust use Admiral Chin to move 2 squadrons out of engagement (and usually into engage range of the bombers if they don't have an intel ship). The other option is to pounce on the escort tags and intel tag(s) and clear them asap. If they all attack 1 TIE Advanced, it's 1 guarenteed damage. Add a Mithel proc and they've taken 2 damage before you even roll dice.

So, to jump into the same avatar conversation, I would bring Soontir if I had escorts. It's so nice to engage the enemy with Soontir and an escort and see as they suffer one damage when they attack :)

I know I could throw in Soontir instead of Cienna but Cienna is kind of a calling card for me now. She aced two YT-2400s in two rounds and it was amazing. Idk it feels wrong not to bring her.

Without escort id think howlrunner is your main target for opponents. So id be careful with her. Swarms like this are fun.
