I am purchasing the starter and would like to know what other expansions are good to get started with?

What faction and/or playstyle do you want to use?

For now I'm thinking Rebels is going to be my faction.

I stared with just the Core game at first. Played some games and then started adding characters I liked. Since I'm not a tournament gamer, I just go with what I want to play. Of course, I needed all the prime characters from the movies... I like the hobby side of gaming, so painting the figures is also fun for me. Get what you like!

For Rebels the strong (or maybe just most used) units atm are:

Gideon (Core Set)

C3PO (C3PO and R2D2 expansion)

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Rebel Troopers

Rebel Saboteurs

Echo Base Troopers (Return to Hoth)

Luke (Core Set)

I'm sure there are others but it very much depends on what sort of list you'd like to play.

There's no point pulling a hammer out of your toolbox if you want a saw, or a screwdriver if you need a drill!

I'd probably recommend get a couple of the rebel expansions (Maybe C3PO, Rebel Troopers, Rebel Sabs) then make a list and get some games in before deciding which route to take

These packs can set you up with a solid base to build impressive Rebel Armies and get you a solid start in Skirmish.
