New TIE Bomber title idea.

Yep, another title. Just like there's one to completely change the Bomber's role, and treat it as a cheap crew-capable vessel.

Only this time, capitalizing not what the Bomber seems to be designed for, judging by it's upgrade bar - a spartan but spacious ordnance carrier.

No, this time, it's about putting the Bomber into TIE Bomber!

It's always bothered me that the signature movie role of the ship got so neglected, by giving him only one Bomb slot for four ordnance ones.

Since it can't bet on the volume of the carried bombs this way, it needs better ways of delivering it's modest load.

Thus came to, an idea for a card.

A dedicated bombing Bomber title, that'll make Action bombs much more accurate and threatening. Something of a budget K-wing, in a way that it can fling the bombs very far, while otherwise not benefiting from any mobility boost for the ship itself. The solution seems rather fair, as it still limits the number of possible positions, opposed to SLAM, but provides a nice ability to catapult the mine 6 forward (4-K ,+ 1 for ship length, +1 for dropping distance), or shoot it sideways with post-Tallon drop. All that while always enabling the use of Action bombs no matter how stressed.

I think it's quite fun, and feels "fair" balance-wise, considering how powerful and precise Wardens are.

I like the idea. You'd think the Bomber would be good with bombs, but it just isn't. Part of the problem is the single bomb slot, which really limits their options. With this, I could see a 5k into 4 cluster mine drops directly in front of an enemy ship being particularly brutal:

4 x Scimitar Squadron Pilots (25)

Cluster Mines

Extra Munitions

Near-orbit Bomber

Flechette torpedoes

Guidance Chips

I'd strongly recommend making the title free, as its nowhere near as good as the other free titles - it merely provides another option, not an absurdly overpowered one. If you did so, the above list could have Plasma Torpedoes instead of Flechetts, which would be a lot more formidable. I do really like the title though, it goes a long way towards making the Bomber true to its namesake (it should probably be released with a new Action: bomb as well).

IT would also help if bombers were good but the thing is the highest bomber pilot is Tomax and putting VI or adaptibility on him is a waste of the pilot ability,

How about a zero point title that give you the ability to force rerolls for bomb damage. "When an enemy ship rolls for damage after overlapping a bomb dropped by this ship you may force the opponent to reroll any number of dice." Or even change focus results to hits instead. Sabine has shown that if you make bombs more reliable sources of damage then they can be very powerful.

It's like Shuffleboard. But with bombs. Shufflebomb.

With mines you want low PS anyways, thats not an issue.

The answer to making Tie Bomber more Bombers instead of Ordnance carriers came out in Most Wanted, but they misprinted the card. Bomb Loadout should have said Ywing or Tie Bomber. Then you could have up to 4 bombs on a Tie Bomber(with Extra Munitions). Seems reasonable lore wise, if foolish points wise. Either way it would have been fun.

Really like the idea of bombers being able to use bombs while stressed, just for the K-turn into bomb drop. Primed Thrusters for bombs?

Action requirements is the main reason bombers arent good at bombing. I use Seismics/Protons on them to great effect, but those are completely different. I would love to drop clusters but its always either a redmove for the optimum spot or i REALLY need my action for something else or im in trouble.

A bomber pilot of middling PS with an ability that increases the radius of the blast to Range 2, or has some additional effect that far out would be cool, but I think you would have to limit it in one of to ways. Either limit the cost of bombs it can be used with, or limit the number of times it can be used in a match.

Maybe one that let's you use a focus token on the bomb rolls?
