Damage control officer question?

By Wetaas, in Star Wars: Armada

Can anyone explain the damage control officer card that says:

When you resolve the defense effect, you can prevent the attacker from resolving any critical effects.

Since the defense contain already prevents any critical, what does damage control officer do..

Is it only if enemy may resolve 2 crits ?

Contain doesn't stop any Critical.

Contain only stops the DEFAULT Critical Effect. Upgrade Card Critical Effects are uneffected...

DCO makes them not work as well ,.

What Dras said. Contain stops the standard crit by default. It does nothing against Overload Pulse, Assault Proton Torpedoes, Assault Concussion Missiles, XX-9s, etc. The Damage Control Officer makes it so Contain can cancel every possible critical effect.

Oh, ****. I just taught a new player Saturday, and taught them the Contain token backwards. I thought it canceled any non-standard critical effect.

****, my Interdictor should have still been alive.

You let the Wookiee win, never a bad thing.

And Nora's bomber buff?

Non Standard crit effect. DCO + Contain kills it.

It's certainly healthier for one's arms.

And Nora's bomber buff?

Yup, DCO would shut that down too

there was an important word missing in the first post.

"When you resolve the Contain defense effect, you can prevent the attacker from resolving any critical effects."

:D because I was seeing that any defense effect (like brace evade and redirect would trigger this.)

that would be a game changer.
