CC - opinions on an awkward situation...

By Aurelus, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

A group of us recently started a 3v3 CC campaign, which has taken a strange turn...

The second game of round one was a bit of a disaster for the defenders, resulting in a victory that will probably have repercussions for the rest of the campaign. While we were going over what went wrong, we noticed the attacker's list had been changed after the initial strategy phase. It can be argued that on paper the changes may not have made much of a difference, however looking at the way the battle unfolded, it gave the attacker the edge he needed against the defender's list/objectives.

Now this is the awkward part... the attacker did not submit a written list (i know what you are thinking, but we are supposed to be all adults here), however joking comments were made about a few squadron choices, so we had a pretty good idea about what he had. Also, the whole campaign was tracked in google spreadsheet form, which was open for all to observe. Looking at the lists post-battle, it was noticed that between the day before the game and the time of play, the list was modified (which was tracked in revision history). When asked about it, the player denied any changes, but with a few screenshots that was proven false. Then, the original spreadsheet was replaced with a new one (minus revision history)... when that was pointed out, the enter campaign data went missing (unfortunately, the player organizing the spreadsheet was the one we were having issues with). This was all accidental of course.

So after all this, one team is left with a bad taste in their mouth. Not really sure how to proceed, or even if we want to continue at this point. Every game is going to be suspect now, which really sucks the fun out of something we were all excited about. If any of you folks have any thoughts it would be appreciated. :D

Wow. Sounds like list tailoring and an abuse of admin priveleges to try and cover it up, to put it plainly.

How big where the changes?

Biggest change was a VSD 2 to VSD 1. The defender was using large static ships, so the VSD and Demo got all in his business and ate his face. With the drop in points, squadrons were changed and an upgrade for squads was added to VSD.

Have hou got a fleet that will crush him this round? Best way to sort it.

The only other way is to start again

The rule book of CC is very specific on cheating. The cheating team loses and I recomend you never play again with that guy. This is a game to have fun, and what he (or they) did was not in the spirit of this game

I printed out two copies of each fleet before declaring assaults. That way each pkayer has a copy of both fleets that will be fighting. There's no temptation to cheat that way.

The person in question has failed at the "adult" part. End the game as per the rules on cheating.

Restart without the cheater.

I'm sorry this happened to you. It can really sour a gaming experience to have something like this happen.

This. Never play any game with that guy ever again. The only thing awkward here is that you all know exactly what needs to be done but are unwilling to do it.

Yeah I'd end the campaign declaring my side won because the other team had a member flagrantly cheating. Sounds like a classic Ben move to me.
