YT1300 Centre Cockpit Conversion

By Dalteth, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Now with it's base coat on.

Got a bit carried away this morning and skipped a few stages before taking a photo!

The ship has now had an ink wash, drybrush and the beginnings of freehand designs added.

Im a bit stumped on how to progress with the freehand now (probably should have planned it before starting!) so any suggestions would be helpful!

How about some kind of stilised wing design?

Stylized wings are a nice suggestion.

Whatever you do, how about a second accent color to go along with that blue?

How about this

Wow. That looks awesome.

its gonna be tricky but I will definitely go for something along those lines...

I blended the two areas (wings and geometric bits) together and used the idea from Force Majeure of the contrasting colour.

Its currently in light grey as a base coat for it but will hopefully 'pop' much more once I go over in white.

I also completed some other bits since the previous picture.

White now included on freehand motif along with a line of ink below to make it stand out.

Last one for today I promise!

This one is a sneak peak of my next project! Any guesses as to what it's going to be...?

As a question, is it the etiquette to maintain one thread for all your works or is it acceptable to create multiple ones?

I would normally create a separate thread for each build to keep them to a specific topic but don't want to breach normal procedure here :)

There isn't a formal way to do this. I do like being able to see one person's work all in one thread. That way I can review older work from the same artist, so-to-speak.

BUT, if you prefer many smaller threads, than that's the way to go.

You'll see one contributor, Barry Harker here quite a bit. He's kind of the Godfather of the painting & mods forum (at least in my mind). He has one main thread with all his major works, and a few side threads that focus on a specific topic such as weathering with pencils, or tools of the trade, things like that.

Whichever route you take is welcome here.

Oh, and I couldn't hazard a guess as to what your next project is. To me it vaguely looks like one of the clam shell troop transports the Invid use in the Robotech series.

You're not doing a ghtroc too are you?

It does look similar the bits that I've constructed so far. Once I start the rear though it will be noticeably different!

Maybe this will help out now it's a bit more advanced in construction:
