Indomitable (Imperial Class Card)

By mischraum.de, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

The card reads:

Exhaust this card when an attack targeting a villain is declared to add 1 black die to that villain's defense pool.

---------

1 thread: Use when an attack targeting a villain is declared to ready this card.

It seems to me that both abilities have the same trigger so I could ready the card for 1 thread and then exhaust it to get 1 black die.

Sadly I can only use an ability once per timing instance. I would have liked those three black dice.

Although it's a class card with a single name, the card contains three separate abilities on the card. You can thus use the mid and bottom abilities in the order of your choosing in the same trigger.

This has been confirmed in conjunction of Waylay.

Can you post the confirmation for Waylay? Looks like Indomitable and Waylay are much stronger than I thought

Indomitable is basically "1 threat: add a black die to a villain's defense pool"

Waylay is "1 strain: choose a friendly figure within 3 space to attack, limit twice but no duplicates (2 hero or 2 ally)"

It's not that powerful as you can only use False Orders once per activation. When you do you can also have an ally and a hero attack. It's about equivalent to Gideon's Masterstroke. One more attack (than Masterstroke), but also costs one extra strain, and requires you have an ally.

There's no limit to how often you can use indomitable in a round (only once per attack) as long as you're willing to spend threat. In other words trying to keep your Villian alive costs you being able to deploy other figures which reduces your activations and puts you at a disadvantage if you're trying to block the heroes from a goal. So not quite as powerful as you'd think...

Mind where indomitable will really hurt the rebels is on missions where the Villian is the goal... Can you imagine Vader with 3 black dice?
