Lambda Relay conundrum questions

By thanosazlin, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

PART 1

a gozanti reveals a squadron dial and is way across the board, i know he can relay across the board to a lambda to active up to 2 squads.

1. Gozanti reveals squadron dial and can activate up to 2 squads, he has 2 squads very very far away, Lambda shuttle and a tie defender.

2. Gozanti chooses Lambda shuttle that is beyond distance 3 of the tie defender. moves the Lamdba to within 3 of the tie defender.

3. then gozanti activates the tie defender as it's 2nd squad activation , which happens to be within distance 3 to the Lambda because of relay.

Is this possible ? we said yes playing CC last night, seemed to be to us.

PART 2

a gozanti has expanded hanger bays and a squad token so activating 4 squads on a squadron dial. there are 2 lambda shuttles across the board with tie defenders within 3 of both of them. the gozanti uses 2 of his squad activations to be relayed by lamdba shuttle A to activate 2 tie defenders , then uses his last 2 squad activations to be relayed by lambda shuttle B to 2 more tie defender squads. Then a 2nd gozanti does the same thing using the 2 lambda's to 4 "other"/different tie defenders. this seems brutal but legal yes??

Looks like you got how relay works. As long as you are not activating a squad twice that all seems legal as described. A lambda can relay to itself since it is a friendly squadron within 3.

But you want to hear have real fun, daisy chain lambdas and pull victory tokens to yourself or throw mines under enemy ships!

is a mine really considered an objective token? i never thought about it, i always thought it was not and was unique?

Not once does the Minefield Card call them Mines.

It calls them Objective Tokens.

Yes to all of it, lamdas relay and strategic are amazing.

While thisbis how they work as writen i doubt that was the ehy the designer meant for them to work.

I think the relay squadron should be in range of the ship so be it medium or long range, it then increase that range again.

If you see it as, can activate squads anywhere on the table, then yes it is obscene.

But it isnt, it is activate within 3 of the lamba, a specific location. And thats not obscene as it is still very limited and controllable.

i play both i just wish the reb version was just as powerful i hate only being able to perform 1 relay with the rebel squad that does the same :( . points spent better elsewhere for me personally , but when i play emp i going to love the lambda's haven't really had a chance to test them out

You man not have the nice Relay 2, but you have other options with the rebels. Combine the VCX-100 with Adar Tallon. It is cheaper and you still get the double move of the objective tokens.

And with the Pelta + All Fighters, follow me! or with the Independence the VCX has even a speed of 4 to reach these tokens really fast.

Has anyone had any luck with Hera Syndula's +Rogue ability? My opponent tried it yesterday but I just swarmed it with TIEs and it had no real effect. At least with Relay, you can get off the first shot in the ship phase even if engaged.

Relay is amazing - ran it recently and with Adar. Lets you keep your ships out harms way (if you deploy correctly!). Strategic is nice to have too in case you go first and the other guy has Salvage Run (for example) - managed to get two tokens to his one and moved the other out of his grasp. He did table me though...

Trouble with Pelta is that it is pricey to get the effect you want, need Raymus onboard and Tantive (or another GR-75 and Comms Net, which i don't have) to get the tokens to do AFFM and Engine Techs.

Tried with Independance too, that was nice but again too expensive and only 3 activations.

I'm now thinking you don't need all that - you move slightly slower and you should be fine.

But yeah, Yavaris + Adar + Relay = awesome!

Along the same lines, can different ships relay through the same lambda on the same turn?

For example, ship 1 activates, has a squadron command, relays through lambda 1 to activate 2 ties (Tie 1 and 2)

Later in the same turn, Ship 2 also has a squadron command, can he also relay through lambda 1 to activate 2 other ties (Tie 3 and 4)?

Yep.

There is no "per turn" limit on Relay, either.
