Yes...after you have it completely set up (preferably in the middle of the screen....Begin a log file....Highlight everything and delete it...then hit undo button....and end log file...then you can just load that log file in the future and hit play for like a second before your fleet appears...then just move it to the top or bottom.

One issue I seem to have is with the movement tool. Sometimes it seems the ships don't move to the right location along the tool. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I had that problem for the longest time. Use the hotkeys for that specific tool (left or right) and physically hit 1, then 2, then 3, etc in order for the ship to face the proper direction.

If you try and jjust <hotkey>-3, it seems to make it go 8 kinds of cockeyed.

Yes, you're doing it wrong

Check if the maneuver tool is to the LEFT or RIGHT of the ship.

Left: press and hold CTRL

Right: press and hold ALT

Then press the number buttons, sequentially, until you've moved your speed. Don't press too rapidly or it might not register.

So if you have a cr90 going speed 3 with the tool to the LEFT:

Press and hold CTRL, then hit 1, 2, 3

And Done!

Sound is horrible thanks to the software I was testing.

Load log file:

New game

Load continuation

Then step forward button (main menu, next to undo) until fleet appears.

For exactly the reason that we all prefer rolling real dice and playing with plastic, Vassal doesn't poach sales.

Are there plans to make vassal Android/tablet friendly? If it were, I'd be able to play nearly infinitely more often.

You'd have to ask the vassal devs that question.

In theory you can run vassal on anything that can run java, but in practice you're limited to desktops/laptops.

There is something incredibly unsatisfying about rolling dice with that app. Plus, you can't appease the dice gods for better rolls......

On the other hand, if your dice roll badly, you're able to blame it on the imperfect nature of pseudo-random number generators.

I have it! It's pretty useful, but I like real dice too.

...was doing a demo and forgot my dice bad at home - thank god for that app!

(but real dice beat app any day)
