Salvation, Spinal or Dual?

By Kerg12, in Star Wars: Armada

So yesterday I played a game, Sato as my commander, I shot with salvation 3 times. 1 red, 2 black not crits. Each time. Mind you this was a CC Salvation so only the title was on it, but then I started thinking about it. What is the probably of rolling a crit with that (58% for those wondering). My next upgrade now is either Spinal or DTL (dual turbolasers) or maybe even TLC. My question is now which is the best? Adding a red, rerolling a red or just Turning 1 red to a crit/double. With Sato spinal gives me a chance for 3 black and 2 red out the front! With a CF of course and with dual I get 2 red, 2 black with a reroll. What do you guys think? Does anyone have a probability calculator or have any other deadly combos like salvation in mind?

Neither.

Going forward for me, its basically, "H9 and roll anything but a Blank on that One Red"....

Because doing 10 damage and watching it braced to 5 sucked ...

9 Damage and having it braced and redirected bothered me ...

... That sort of thing.

I take the all-blanks in my stride. Honestly, a reroll or a TRC isn't really helping me there if I can't roll Black Dice to save me.

Salvation and Raymus is best. CF a black and get a reroll. Don't do TRC since you want to keep the Evade fresh. I'd do DTL because it is cheaper and works with you side arcs if you choose not to or can't Sato.

Or take T-Farr and roll blues.

Yea that has happened to be as well in wave 2 deal all that damage and it just goes away. H9 is an interesting choice though for it. I may have to test that out.

Salvation and Toryn is almost as bad as Nym and toryn  it's such a gamble!

Spinal Raymus for CF.

3red 2blk with reroll.

And run it in a fleet with Home One. Who needs H9s then?

Intel officer. Saves Takes lives.

I'd lean toward Dual over Spinal. It has enough dice that the point savings are helpful. Intel Officer, as others have said, is wonderul, and even XI7 can drill through to hull.

Intel officer, h9 seems to be the ticket here... Roll 2 black one red, Intel brace, roll another red if red is blank, otherwise h9 red to acc, add a black with cf dial...

That should give 93.75% chance to acc and decent chances for crits as well....

Lots to consider here. I do like the H9 and intel, but maybe H9 and Raymus just in case you need to reroll one of those blacks.

So beside Salvation any other combo appearing with the Wave 5 upgrades? I noticed that Sato help to turn the MC30's into long range APT slingers. Also that Armed transports and sato can help pack a little bit more punch for 6 points more of course.

Personally, I still lean on TRC + Intel officer if I can fit it, Sato or not. It makes an excellent sniper for 72 points: makes the brace on whales go bye-bye (or it lands a solid hit on the chin if they don't use it!) and its great at knocking out those pesky flotilla scatter tokens with one shot instead of two.

I'm actually okay going Sally as a NebB Support with Slaved Turrets for 64 points,

I'm mostly going to be firing out my front arc anyway for the title bonus, and because it's a NebB. I get four reds out the front, with Sato that's two red and two black, with a whole lotta love if those Crits pop up. Add in Home One, and I still can get my Accuracy, without losing my Turbolaser slot.

I like DTLT. The price is right for the ship that dies if anyone breathes too heavy on it, and it's utility is awesome. Spinal is almost always just going to be one red out the front because no one typically ends up in a Nebs' rear arc. Raymus + CF + DTLT leaves you with farily consistent hits/

DUR speaks wisdom. Intel Officer always . Turbolaser Reroute Circuits sometimes (it's an easy pick with Rieekan, and tempting with others). If not TRCs, then I'd vote for Dual Turbos.

I always put TRC on Salvation to make sure it works. I have had so many dice rolls where I would never roll a crit and it cost me a few games

Going up to Sato has me Double-Arcing with Salvation again...

Black-Black Straight up as a warmup, to either tease shields or defense tokens, followed by Red-Black-Black-Black with the Crits Double....... Glorious.

I wouldn't take Slaved Turrets for that reason...

Don't overinvest on Salvation. Also, remember that with Salvation anything less than a Double Hit is not an above average roll, so worth rerolling.

Dual Turbolasers seem made for it - get a no consequence reroll for your single hits, since that is still "average" for single hit reds (actually just below, if you don't already have a critical, since "average is 1 hit + .25 critical results").

I'd say if I was running Salvation those would be the only two upgrades on it, except maybe a Skilled FO if I had a spare point. Stock a CF token R1, and a Navigate R2, slow roll in, and POW! Cheap heavy hitter doing an average of a bit over 5 damage out the front with Sato.

I agree with Biggs here. While you can pile on upgrades remember you are a Neb B and only one lucky hit away from death at any given moment...

Some good options being proposed but the fundamental question comes down to whether you want money in the bank (TRC), maximum damage potential! (Sato), or bang for your buck (DT)

This is the way I run it too and it's been quite successful.

Yes, it does mean no side shooting, but that's just the temptation you want to avoid with a neb - if you can shoot from the side, chances are that you can be shot from the side too.

Edit: If you can, add a Skilled First Officer and then spam Nav/Conc Fire orders. Will let you maneuver and get an extra dice when you want it most.

Spinals have a nice home on the Arq backed by Vader. I like using Spinals to shore up the weak front and rear shots, and the maneuverability of the ship makes it viable to consistently double arc.

Trc raises the expected damage to 4. It's only 2 point something with the new quad thing.

Yea but then you can't evade

...and?

It's a single Evade. If I get hit with an Accuracy, then I still can't Evade. If I'm at close range, no Evade. And, even if those two "ifs" don't happen, I would gladly take the extra damage and guarantee of a Crit I'm putting out, in exchange for knowing I will most likely still be able to Brace the extra damage I didn't get to Evade down. I mean, if I get hit for six instead of five damage, it's still getting Braced down to three.
