Fun "achievements" for a casual league. Looking for ideas.

By Rogue Dakotan, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I'm going to be running a casual league starting this weekend.

To add to the fun, I was thinking of having some achievements, so to speak, that would net people prizes.

Such as, over the course of the league, who dealt the most damage in a single attack.

Or who had their opponent roll a dodge the most times in a single game.

Things like that.

Do you have any other ideas for these?

Most activations, least activations. If it's casual, how about including other missions? One of the Dengar ones looked fun.

These are more of a checklist of objectives that can be handed out to each player than a "one guy did this" achievement list, but I think they'll be fun!

"Clean Sweep": Control or capture all objectives in a map (ie control all the Security stations, singlehandedly kill the Dianoga, get all the crates, etc.)

"Flawless Victory": Win while your opponent has zero VP (probable NPE, only use if it's a competitive league).

"Dragged Under": have a figure die to the Dianoga

"Fatality!" Kill a figure with at least 3 excess damage.

"Single Minded": Win a game with only objective points.

"Darn the Torpedoes!": Win the game with zero objective points.

"Alternative History": Resolve a combat in a way counter to the source (Greedo kills Han, Obi Wan kills Vader, Rancor or Wampa kill Luke, Gamorrean kills Rancor, Jabba kills Leia, etc).

"C-c-c-combo breaker!": Come back from at least a 15 VP deficit to win the game.

"BOOM! HEADSHOT!": kill a 6+ HP remaining figure in a single attack.

"That Was Close!": Use an X-Men to Dodge at least 5 damage.

More to come if I feel like it :)

"Rebellions are built on hope" -lose a game with zero VP

(make it worth TWICE what "flawless victory" is...)

"Combo breaker" should be renamed "Never Tell Me The Odds"

"That Still Only Counts As One": Destroy a Massive figure with a figure costing 2 or less.

"Easier Than Shooting Womp Rats": Defeat at least 3 figures in 1 activation.

"Sniper Shot": Deal damage to a figure at least 8 spaces away.

"I Am One With The Force [The Force Is With Me]": Opponent misses a figure 3 or less spaces away

"The Grass Is Too Darn High": Move through the most Difficult Terrain spaces.

"Dead Man Walking": Have a character with 3 or more Harmful conditions.

"Our Situation Has Not Improved": Reroll a die to a blank side.

"I do what I want": Use a Comms Disruption on a Negation or Comms Disruption

"Combo breaker" should be renamed "Never Tell Me The Odds"

That's a much better idea. I got on a bit of a video game meme streak there.

Don't call it a comeback: win a game in which you were 10 or more VPs behind.

Running on Empty: Win a game with 0 command cards remaining in your hand and deck.

Knowledge and Defense, Never for Attack: Win a game without scoring any points from killing figures.

Hot LZ: Defeat a figure in the first round of the game before it activates.

In a casual league ( I'm guessing this is just playing several games over a time period)

I would aim more for some easy to keep track of stuff and a more fun atmosphere = casual

Play different maps

Keep the same unique figure throughout the league, but never play the same list twice

Figure who dodges the most or survives the most attacks

Figure who makes the most attacks but doesn't ever kill anyone

Stuff like that

Figure who dodges the most or survives the most attacks

Figure who makes the most attacks but doesn't ever kill anyone

Stuff like that

Those seem like they would be very hard to track, especially over multiple games, but even in one game. Each player would have to maintain a spreadsheet for all of their figures and be updating it after every single activation.

I had a regional where Dodges were kept track of up until the cut. The "winner" where 12 dodges were rolled against him won a pack of dice. That wasn't hard to keep track of. Players always seem to be able to remember every single one during a game.

How did your league turnout, OP?

"Ah-hahahahahah" - Have someone use R2-D2 and attack an opposing Salacious Crumb Token

First week is done. There were 5 of us, though I think there will be 6 total, with not everyone able to make it each week unfortunately.

I actually ended up not doing any achievements. They just sorta slipped my mind as I was preparing everything at the store lol.

So if I do any now, they'd have to be on a 'per night' basis rather than over the whole league.

Hey! Thanks for the ideas! We're starting up a fortnightly league too. Want it semi-competitive, but to build into the scoring things that give newer / weaker players a good chance to pick up some prizes. What I've got so (subject to the co-organiser's and store's approval) is this:

  • Fortnightly league (6 session / 3 month cycles)
  • $5 registration per cycle (includes one entry into prize draw)
  • $5 per session - Swiss style tournament, 3x 50-minute rounds
  • Each session: 1st place $10 store credit, 2nd place $5 (if 6+ players, 3 rd place $5)
  • 3 points for a win, 2 for bye/forfeit/participation
  • Bonus points for challenges and achievements*
  • Convert 10 points to a chance in the prize draw
  • At the end of each cycle, 1 (or 2?) prizes drawn (ally/villain packs) and overall league champion takes jackpot as store credit (i.e. balance of rego / entrance fee over 6 weeks less cost of 1-2 prizes)

With the bonus points, I'm thinking to restrict them to standalone events / outcomes, and not "most number of dodges" etc where you'll have to track them and compare against others. Also, if I stick with 16 (or go to 25?) we can draw them up as bingo cards, to score yet another point scored for getting a row on the achievement bingo card. Yes, I have shamelessly stolen ideas from this thread...

  1. Roll 5 surges in a single attack
  2. Deal 8 damage in a single attack
  3. Roll 3 consecutive dodges
  4. Control / capture all missions’ objectives
  5. Win with 30+ VPs from mission objectives
  6. Entirely wipe out opponent’s army
  7. Win after being 15+ VPs behind
  8. One-shot kill a 5+ hit point figure
  9. Dodge a 5+ damage attack
  10. Defeat 2+ figures in one activation
  11. Defeat 5+ figures in one round
  12. Deal damage to a figure 8+ spaces away
  13. Defeat a figure with yours carrying 2+ harmful conditions
  14. Win with no command cards left in deck and hand
  15. Defeat a figure in the first round
  16. Field an army of entirely painted figures

Lastly, each week we would nominate under-utilised units or combinations of units for people to score a bonus two points, e.g. Han Solo, Chewbacca, etc.

What do you think?

All systems are go! Finalising the list of achievements (and bingo card) now, utilising more Star Wars quotes and themes (pinched a bunch from the old Decipher CCG I used to play). First cycle will be featuring the following 6 figures / groups and their corresponding maps and missions:

  1. General Weiss or AT-ST
  2. Agent Blaise
  3. IG-88
  4. Dengar
  5. Luke Skywalker (Hero of the Rebellion)
  6. eWookiee Warriors

Have finished producing the league booklets. I can't upload anything else here (have hit my 0.5mb limit) so I've put a link to a drop box folder to this and my other resources if you want to use any of them: https://tinyurl.com/glegyzp
