Fleet command question

By Sybreed, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I'm gonna use fleet commands for the first time next week, just making sure I use it correctly.

When it says "at the start of the ship phase", that means before any ship has activated, right? Even if I'm 2nd player? I feel this is important from a token generation perspective.

Thank you.

Correct.

It happens with the same timing window as Han Solo and Grand Moff Tarkin.

It happens after Garm Bel Iblis.

A follow up to this one:

To take the example of "All Fighters, Follow Me", the card reads:

"At the start of the Ship Phase, you may discard this card or spend a <Squadron_Command> token....

If I choose to spend a squadron command token, does that token have to come from the ship where the fleet command card is?

It came up in a game last night and this is how we played it, but there was some doubt as the token is not used as a command by the ship in the ship phase - i.e. in the usual way.

The key here is the "you" word.

You always means the ship or squadron that is active.

Close. And the nit-picking, hair-splitting distinction is actually relevant on this point as the Pelta isn't actually active when you spend the token.

The rule reads:

"On upgrade card effects, the term “you” refers to the ship that the upgrade is equipped to."
