Kyle Katarn, Inspiring Recruit and two focus tokens.

By Stoneface, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Katarn (crew) says you may assign a focus token to your ship when you remove a stress token. Inspiring Recruit allows you to remove one additional stress. Would this allow Katarn to get a second focus token? Or does the wording "...remove A stress token..." and "...may assign A focus token..." preclude getting a second focus token?

Any ideas or a reference to the rules would help.

Each token is a separate opportunity to trigger stuff.

So yeah, this works.

Thanks for the quick response. This caused a lot of head scratching last night with an even split for and against.

Unfortunately I don't think any of the various test cases have yet made it into the FAQ. It would be good to get some official precedent on it, even though the interaction is pretty clear. There's no such thing ans simultaneity in x-wing, everything happens in sequence, one thing at a time. And given that, each token is a separate opportunity.

Be careful, my friend. All this head scratching you've been doing lately is likely to wear a hole through the ol' bone dome. ;)

Has there ever been a reason to think that Kyle wouldn't work multiple times if multiple Stress tokens get removed? Any time something is gained or lost it is done one at a time so Kyle's ship losing multiple Stress would trigger Kyle multiple times. There's no need for a FAQ on this.

No there isn't, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for a general FAQ entry on applying multiple tokens or effects one at a time. That might reduce the number of questions like this that pop up frequently. :)

That doesn't seem to be the way they roll. More likely they'll eventually add one specific instance to the FAQ and it'll be up to us to recognize its significance as precedent and identify the places where it applies.

The question arose mostly from the use of "A" as in "A stress token". Singular.

Fortunately, at 65+ I still have a full head of hair. It will help to hide the hole. Now to find a way to keep the grey cells from leaking out.
