Adhesive Question

By WigTii, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Hello everyone,

One of my Nebulon B frigates was damaged during a recent move. The peg on the underside of the ship broke off inside the stand, so I would like to glue it (and the stand) back onto the ship. Does anyone have a suggestion or experience regarding an appropriate adhesive for the plastic used to make these ships?

Thanks.

Glue the broken off ship peg into the plastic stand with superglue. Leave to dry. Then shave the top to get a flush finish.

Next drill a 1mm or 2mm hole through the Nebulon. With this model you don't have much space to ensure you don't ruin the model by drilling a hole too big. If you drill to far right through the model no big disaster. Add a tiny bit of green stuff, Milliput, or even blue tac sealed with superglue over the hole and repaint when finished.

Next drill into the base making sure that superglue has dried completely.

Insert a 1mm or 2mm piece of wire or straightened paperclip. You can glue this in, permanently fixing the model to the base, or you can rely on a tight fit to keep the model on the base while in play. Being a round pin it must be tight to avoid the Neb spinning round on the peg. Adding a coat or two of gloss varnish to the pin on the non glued end can add a little extra diameter getting a tighter fit. or grip the pin with a pair of pliers squashing one end slightly to get a bit mor friction in the join.

Thank You Mad Cat for the suggestion. I apologize for the delay in my reply...been crazy busy lately.

I tried your approach and messed it up. :(

The ship has been scrapped and I have purchased a replacement.

Oh well, more XI7s and Intel officers are always welcome.

Use the ruined model to create some wreckage or debris field scenery along with some small stones and pieces of bashed up cork.
