Healing questions

By Gomez0, in Tannhauser

Hello!

Sorry for my English, this isn't my native language.

I got Tannhauser for Christmas, and I very like it! But after a few game, we got some question - and i've not found the answers...

A)
The rulebook says: "After making a Shock Roll, if your character does not die immediately,
you can heal one or more wounds"

The "immediately die", refers only Union's weapons' "natural 10 instant kill", or it means more wounds, then the characters life (a healthy hero recives 4 or more wounds)?

B) Grenades
The Automatic Wound can't be countered by Shock Roll, but can it be healed with spent Victory Points?
Combat Roll - Shock Roll - use Victory Points - Automatic Wounds OR
Combat Roll - Shock Roll - Automatic Wounds - use Victory Points?

C) Strafe
"If Eva (and only Eva) uses Strafe and rolls a Natural 10 on a Combat Roll, the target is caught in a stranglehold and sustains as many wounds as successes, without the benefit of a Shock Roll."

In that case, the target can use Victory Points to heal? 'Cause, he can't make Shock Role, but Victory Points can use after Shock Roll...

D) First Aid Kit

It says: "When you use Victory Point...". So, it can't be used in Action Phase to heal previously received damage and Tara's "Shot of Morphine" is the only way to heal previous wounds, am i right?

I dont remember more questions...temporarly:)
Thanks for your help!

I'll have a go at these

A) 'not immediately dying' refers to not losing the characters last wound and does NOT apply to the instant kill weapons - where unless a 10 is rolled the character is DEAD and not 'dying'

B) Automatic wounds can be countered by VP - your second interpretation is the correct one

C) Use of VP against 'strafe' would be dependant on the target being alive at the end of the attack

D) VP and first aid kits can only be used immediately after surviving an attack and prevent the use of the 'counterattack' option. Not sure on Morphine - will have to look it up.

Hope this helps - it's the way I play. If I've made any errors I'm sure someone will chime in to correct me;-)

Regards and welcome to this great game

Thanks for the answers!

We played with these rules too, (except the granade's). But my first FFG game were Arkham Horror, and it has lot of ambiguous rules - so, i ask first, instead of play with wrong rules:)

And here is the rules of morphine - so it can use to heal other member of team, in action phase:

"Whenever you use a Victory Point to heal a wound, you can use the Shot of Morphine to heal an
additional wound. Alternatively, Tala may use the Shot of Morphine during her Action Phase to heal
two wounds for another character, who must be on an adjacent circle on her Path. (This also costs a
Victory Point.) Discard the token after either type of use."

Thank you for the answers, once more:)

Combat Roll - Shock Roll - Automatic Wounds - use Victory Points

Damage from both attaack and automatic deal in same time before healing

i read it from faqs

morphine can use out of combat

Whenever a character with the Shot of Morphine uses a Victory Point to heal a
wound, he can use the Shot of Morphine to heal an additional wound at no
additional Victory Point cost

so 1 vp for 2 heal for him/herself

. Alternatively, a character with Shot of Morphine
may use it during his Action Phase to heal two wounds for another character on
Discard the Shot of Morphine token after either type of use.
Shot of Morphine
an adjacent circle of the same Path, at a cost of one Victory Point.

1 action 1 vp for 2 heal for anyone

oh i found them

Healing wounds with Victory Points
All wounds arising from the same attack – Automatic
and otherwise – are applied at the same time, and
then Victory Points can be spent to heal, if the
character is still alive.

C) Use of VP against 'strafe' would be dependant on the target being alive at the end of the attack

No. If Eva roll one or more Natural 10 on her Combat Roll when she attacks with Strafe, the target is denied a Shock Roll and thus cannot use VP to cancel wounds as per the rule listed page 19.

After making a Shock Roll, if your character does not die immediately, you can heal one or more wounds. Each Victory Point spent lets you move your Health Indicator Token up one row.

This rule make any attack that deny Shock Roll a real threat.

Tokens exploiting this:

  • Union : Bomb Brothers (Ramirez), Bouncing Betty(Ramirez)
  • Reich : Strafe (Eva), Poison (Yula), Sha-Na-Ra (Von Heizinger), Eye of Horus (Von Heizinger)
  • Matriarchy : Meteop Token (Irishka) in combination with a direct or indirect Magnifier Attack (Zor'Ka), or trigerred by a Volt-Nagan (Irina) or Volta Pistol (Irishka), Soud (Voivods)
  • Mercenary : Wolftrap
