Is anyone using them? My mind says pair them with X wings or A wings, but I'm interested in how people have been running them and what they've been having success with. I would think a good force of 2 E wings, the A wing aces, and 2 regular A wings is a solid first strike punch on some enemy squadrons, if i can get them all commanded in one turn somehow...
E Wings
Pairing 2 Ewings with Ywings right now... 7 of them (5 regs, Nora, and Gold). Working well
I have gotten distressingly little table time with Wave 5, unfortunately, so take this with a grain of salt...
I was thinking today that E-Wings might be a go-to purpose-built defensive squadron if you're just taking a fighter screen, but not trying to build for bombers. Snipe + speed gives you a reasonable shot at popping Intel on attacking bomber wings; after Intel is gone, they should still hold up pretty well to lock down the bombers long enough to protect the test of the fleet.
They work reasonably well in conjunction with other squadrons, but don't have any particular squadron synergies like escort or swarm, so they're just as happy lone-wolfing
But like I said, limited experience talking here, just spit-balling.
To me, snipe is about greater board control... so that's where E wing shine... if you're not needing that, and looking for greater DPT or something like that... probably pass on the EWing...
Since we have EWings, we'll get World Devastators soon... right?

Those were V-wings. ![]()

Haven't tried them yet but they will be in my next game. In my group we are playing the CC so Im only facing Empire for the next few games. But I'm curious to see how good they are at taking out key unique squads. I definitely think pairing them with Escort is really good and I like the idea of a combo with Hera Syndulla. So like Hera Syndulla, Coran Horn and 2x E-Wings.. effectively a 4 more Rogue team with Snipe. or maybe 1 E-Wing with an X-Wing escort. I just thing you have some speed issues there (3-4), can be kind of tough to keep them together and its a bit pricey not sure the snipe is really going to be worth putting some much point weight into it.
Just theorycrafting here, but I'm looking forward to trying it.
I Think They really shine at defending When They hug gallant heaven.
For me the E-wing is the specific counter to the TIE Interceptor in a swarm with Dengar and Howlrunner. No one in their right mind tries to take on Interceptors when they have counter 3 and a re-roll, unless you're one of the A-wing aces. Now, there's the E-wing which allows you to do precisely that.
Outside of that, well, their use is probably more marginal, and you might have been better off with X-wings or A-wings.

Ah yeah, where did that **** 3 come from... some typos don't matter, but others are just total **** ups ![]()
I like them for plinking shots at escorted valuable targets like enemy Jan + 3 X-wings or Dengar in a Rhymer ball with 2xTie-A. Mauler and Fel can be good to go for too but with Brace and a Scatter it may not be as easy. Flight controllers and Toryn Far make Snipe a lot more effective.
Other than that they are faster X-wings for more points but no escort, so I don't see them as the alround workhorse role the X-Wing can fill.
Interceptors + Dengar + Howl = counter 4!
I'm kinda less than impressed with the E-Wings so far, truthfully. expensive for what they get. If they were Snipe 4, I'd be all about them. Need to use them more though.
they ignore counter and byproxy of how the attack is performed there is no Escort in the way either, as escort only messes with engaged ships - ewing isnt engaged yet.
Used that to my advantage to pick off Dengar from under his TIE Adv escort and get rid of that annoying ball of counter

Who chooses to try and kill that sort of force by chewing through the interceptors and leaving the characters until last?

*pushes nerd glasses up*
Actually, the E-Wing originated in the Dark Empire comics in the early '90s, which is also where the World Devastators originated. Also the Eclipse, Nar Shadaa, cloned Palpy, and dark Luke.
I was pretty stoked though when they had this level in the game though.
Edited by EggzavierI have some in the list i'm playing tonight. Two stands plus Corran and the Ghost. And some Z-95s to run interference.

Say what you want about Cloned Palpy.
But leave the Eclipse out of it. ![]()
For me, Corran Horn is worth every penny in my Rieekan Aces list. He just sits back next to Jan and Ketsu Onyo and snipes whoever he wants with impunity as they can't run away due to Ketsu. Once the squads are farmed, he then gets to go on bombing runs with the Trench Boys and have some fun!

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
E-Wings are to X-Wings what F-22s are to F-15s.
Think of the Y-Wings as a F-111. A slower, older, fighter/bomber (but mostly bomber).
A-Wings are your F-16. Fast and up in your face.
F-15s are the old air superiority fighter (along with the Navy's F14). That's the X-Wing role - fight to the target while escorting the slower Y-Wings (F111s)
The E-Wings are all about speed and hitting your target from a distance. They don't want you to even get off a shot. That's the F22.

as a former Airforce Avionics specialist, this is pretty spot on and im kinda disturbed i still understand all this crap lol.
also for the record the F15 is a pain in the ass to fix....
Baha. F-111s were only "Fighters" for Australians. For the US, they were just Strategic Bombers. ![]()
But I miss the ol' Pig. A lot.
Was what I trained to fly, after all... Seeing them finally retired broke my heart.
And that would make the B-Wing the Joint Strike Fighter (F-35). Mediocre (at best) at everything, excellent at nothing. A fighter designed to do all roles is a master of none.
I see the B-wing as the A-10 Warthog.
Slow, tough, and when it finally sees it's ground target BZZZZZZZZRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTT!
