Rebel High Command - Jet Troopers
Did you post that right before the new tournament rules came out? Because the point of them being similar to elite stormtroopers is almost inverted now that they have higher health and give up their points not as easily.
Otherwise great article! I'll make sure to highlight it in our next podcast!

I more meant that they're similar in the way they function as units as opposed to give away points.
I'm reserving my judgment on the new rules until they clarify how Reinforcements interacts with it. At the moment, I still think Troopers are fine, just much more in line with how everything else plays now as opposed to encouraging Negative Play Experiences.
Thanks for reading!
Look forward to listening to the podcast!

It will be Episode #41 as we wrapped Episode #40 already on monday. Not to disappoint you when #40 goes up later today ![]()
You may have also overlooked that Vader's Finest works very effectively with Flyby, granting essentially four free movement points after making the attack! ![]()
Having just run 2 sets of Elite Jets in a regional setting, I think that they are amazing. I would consider taking a set of these guys over a set of elite stormtroopers, especially if they are upgraded. I ran 1 set with Targeting Computer and the other with Vader's Finest. The ability to move in, shoot at range 2 and then earn movement points to run back to cover and prevent shots back at you is invaluable. The targeting computer helps them considerably, especially when shooting outside of their normal range, but Vader's Finest can be absolutely devastating on them. I can't even come close to telling you how many times I was able to move into range within 2 space then, completely break line of sight for my opponent on the way back out. Consequently my opponent would either have to move too far forward to get a shot on me, or retreat further away from me.
I was skeptical of these guys until i gave them a chance, and now I'm completely sold on them. I'm looking forward to testing out the regulars soon as a replacement for cheaper filler units in my lists.
Another great article. I'm skeptical about them too.
The Elites certainly benefit greatly from an attachment like TComp™ or VFine™, but this also makes them very expensive, pushing into a figure cost of 4.5 after the VFine attachment on the Elites. For half a point more you can have a Dewback with more HP and a Shock-lance once he's up close, which I think might be even better depending on your list and the meta. Something to think about for sure.
I like the regulars as objective and terminal grabbers, but it's debatable if they're better than 2 Imperial Officers. If you already have 1-2 Officers and have a 4 points gap they might make a good fill. Besides, they still throw a Grenade as good as any Trooper.
