Is there a book for Mandolorians yet?

First I've heard about that. I always thought it was pretty obvious from Alec Guinness' face in E4 that in answering "How did my father die?" he was holding something back. That part seemed planned from the beginning.

I believe one of the earliest drafts of Ep V had Luke meeting and training with his father rather than Yoda.

When he wrote that Obi-wan to Luke exposition in A New Hope about Luke's family that was canon...until he was making Empire and decided he'd trash most of that and make Anakin and Vader the same person...

I felt it was more a painful memory, plus telling a kid how their parent died is never easy.

Maybe Yoda was intended to be Luke's father. "When 800 years you have lived, many women will you have known, and many invites from Maury Povich will you receive..."

To be clear, I'm just guessing. Maybe it was planned from the beginning, but that's not the sense I get of it.

Obi-wan seems to be the iconic good and honorable Jedi - even in the Clone Wars - so telling so many whoppers to Luke seems out of character...though, given the situation he was in a good argument could be made that it was the best of the bad options he had.
