VCX-100 with Finn

By Cgriffith, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I have Finn as crew on the Ghost, and choose to use him on defense. Would I be affectively adding a green dye because of the blank and his ability to reroll that added green dice? I know with FCS and target lock at Range 1 on offense it's a 6 dice attack but can I add 1 agility with him on defense? Or is his placement on the VCX-100 strictly offensive

Funny adds a blank green Dice to the pool. If you have no way to reroll them he effectively does nothing for the Ghosts defence

Yes, you can use Finn on defense on the Ghost, but I'm not sure where you're getting the ability to reroll a green die.

I'm not saying you could I was wondering if since it's an "0" agility ship IF he could be applied in that manner; obviously you would need to find a way to reroll the blank of course. But on offense with FCS/Target Lock it could be nasty - thank you for the reply

Ah, I see. Yes. Also: Finn's not limited to once per round, so if you figure out a way to use him on defense, that doesn't mean you can't also use him on attack.

Okay now I feel stupid. I always thought he was once per round (i.e C3PO). So then is Rey once per round then? because I've always used her this way as well (I am undefeated using Rey/Finn + Poe)

Both Rey (pilot) and Finn are "while attacking/defending" abilities, which means the Once Per Opportunity rule applies, and you can only trigger them once on a particular attack/defense. But there's no other restriction on the frequency of their use.

You can use" Gasp" flight instructor(very underused) as the other crew to get the re-roll off really the only way i can think of to get the rr on greens on a ship with no ept

Funny mistake, Finn now change the color of dice :)

Flight Instructor wouldn't work with the VCX.

You need PS 2 or lower to reroll blank greens.

You can use the combo with the U-wing or Y-1300

The Pilot Skill requirement on Flight Instructor relates to the attacker , not the ship with FI.

You are right. Still, not a great card.

In general, if a card doesn't say "once per round", then it's not limited to once per round.

Do what the card says. Don't do what the card doesn't say. Don't invent restrictions/limitations that aren't on the card or in the rules.

Solid advice, especially for newbies. :)
