Assaj Wingman conflict

By BlodVargarna, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Assaj: "At the start of the Combat phase, you may choose a ship at Range 1-2. If it is inside your mobile firing arc, assign 1 stress token to it."

Wingman: "At the start of the Combat phase, remove 1 stress token from another friendly ship at Range 1."

How would this resolve?

Player with Initiative goes first. Assaj wants to give up initiative in this matchup.

ETA: The general rule for what happens when both players have effects to resolve with the same timing window (e.g. "At the start of the Combat phase") is that the player with initiative must resolve all the abilities they wish to resolve in that window before the player without initiative may resolve any.

Pilot skill is used to determine the order of activation in the Activation and Combat phases, and to determine the order in which ships decloak, but it is otherwise irrelevant to "who goes first" questions.

This sounds right to me. Was looking for it in the rules, learn to play & FAQ. I didn't see it referenced, do you know where this comes from? Just common practice or in the rules somewhere?

From the Initiative topic in the X-Wing rules reference,

"If both players have effects that resolve at the same time, the player with initiative resolves all of his effects first."

5th bullet under "Card Abilities" in the Rules Reference, Page 8.

3rd bullet under "Initiative" in the Rules Reference, Page 12.

Second question in General Q&A of the FAQ, page 19.
