Second Edit: At first I had no idea what you meant when you said Biggs was being even-handed, when he didn't even mention the debate in that article. I realize now he wrote another article later on the actual debate. I had missed it. It was indeed even-handed. Credit where it's due.

Technically Shmitty wrote the even handed article on the actual debate. Credit where credit is due.

I won't lie and say that I don't have angry, inflammatory opinions. That particular incident though was legitimately me putting up the search description for the article as a joke, with a big bold "FIX THIS", so that when Shmitty and Truthiness read the article to proofread for me they'd get a chuckle. It is something I used to do in the past with EMS Charting, where I'd make some outlandish statement (and flag it) so that my partner could get a chuckle when they proofread my chart prior to signing off on it.

Weeeeell... I did that there too, but forgot that I did. By the time I caught it... well Dras caught it instead. It was already posted and up. Sure, I could have gone back and changed it after the fact, but part of my shtick is that you folks get to see when I make a mistake.

I try not to get angry and bitter on the forums. Can't say I always succeed. But I've got a chat group of folks that I can vent with about things.

It is hilarious that this particular posting got called out. By all means, hold my feet to the fire if I screw up! I'd hope we can chuckle about this particular incident rather than people having their feelings hurt:

Actually I have been doing a lot more joking than usual to try and diffuse tension. Hopefully you folks are receptive to the jokes / see that it is all in good fun.

I want to also take this time to remind people not to talk from a position of power. I've had quite a number of times I've seen command-form talk used, or military superior talking to inferior type talk used. You are not in the military here, the person you disagree with is not an inferior officer to you. This is some crazy for of egotistical one-ups-manship that our culture thinks is acceptable behavior for men over the age of 25. I've also seen some (not as much as other games thank goodness) older folks patting themselves on the backs for being older folks and being generally superior to younger folks while pointing out all the annoying and irritating things that younger folks do (in some part because of their lack of money, time or anything else). This is sickening. Please stop this. Do not ever do it.

That's exactly how to act like the group laugh, bar club bully of the old white boys club. We don't have many young players. We definitely don't have many female players. In a lot of gaming groups, there also aren't that many non-white folks. Don't be that jerk.

It isn't an empty quote if I write something underneath.

Hahah. what does that mean? (Btw, I updated with a more positive ending to my post)

"Empty quoting" is just reposting a quote, and not typing anything discussing it. Generally should be avoided (but I really like that post).

Oh. Thank you then. =)

Not the first time I left in a hidden search description for an article.

Bump

This thread reminds me of some big personalities and content creators that we have lost over the last 2 years or so.

I know a community is always changing, with old members leaving and new ones joining, but man are there a lot of people who used to be regulars missing on these discussion boards.

Same. I mean, we've always had issues, people arguing over such and such, but there were a lot of cool folks back when I first joined up. It's a shame to see them less.

Hello old thread.
