I'll keep this short: how do you resolve an ion token on a Striker? I played a game today where neither my friend or I could decide what to do. If the mandatory 1 bank clears the ion and then you get your chosen move then it's really no penalty; if you can bank left or right but then still move a white 1 forward then it's only a minor nuisance; if you have to do a mandatory 1 straight then another 1 straight, it's a 3 straight every time you get ionised. What's the final word?
TIE Striker Ion Effects
You can't use Adaptive Ailerons when you're ionised, you have no dial to reveal to trigger it.
You do a white 1 straight and a white 1 straight only.
Makes sense. I appreciate the answer. Is that written somewhere, or is it just common sense?
Adaptive Ailerons say "Immediately before you reveal your dial,[...]"
While as mentioned being ionized prevents you from assigning the ship in question a maneuver dial that turn, thus Adaptive Ailerons don't trigger.

It's written on the rules card for Ionisation and the Adaptive Ailerons card.
Do what the cards say, don't do what they don't say. Ionisation says you don't assign a dial, Ailerons is only triggered by revealing a dial. So there's no trigger when the ship is ionised, so Aileron's don't work.
Not every interaction has to be spelled out in so many words. This one is perfectly clear.
But if you do need rules precedent, the same thing applies, e.g., to dropping bombs - you can't drop an 'on dial reveal' bomb if you don't reveal a dial due to being ionised.
Drive-by FAQ citation of precedent:
Advanced Sensors
If a ship equipped with Advanced Sensors does not have a maneuver dial assigned to it (for example, because it is ionized), it cannot use Advanced Sensors’ ability.
