Double Rest -- or Rest Twice in one Turn ???

By Nechromius, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

My gaming-group and I have noticed that a lot of the rules in Imperial Assault create questions for players because they don't spell-out much of what you CANNOT do...

Recently, we were playing and I performed a "rest" as both of my actions in the same turn (as a Rebel / Hero character).

My friends then looked at me as though I had somehow cheated... I think no one else had ever considered doing this...

Anyway, we scoured the rulebooks and couldn't find anything that says that the Heroes/Rebels cannot rest twice in one round/turn.

Does anyone have a quote or a rule they could site which would show that this is NOT ALLOWED???

Or, is it simply another one of many things which is allowed by virtue of the fact that it doesn't say it's not???

Thank you!

p.s. (I think my gaming-group and I are often confused because we played FFG's "DESCENT" for so many years, and while similar, many of the rules are NOT the same.)

Heroes can perform any action twice per activation, except special actions - each special action can be used only once per activation.

Non-heroes can perform any action twice per activation, except special actions and actions that contain one or more attacks. Each special action can be only performed once per activation, and a non-hero can only perform one action containing at least one attack during an activation.

Also see the Common Rules Mistakes thread from my signature to answer lot of your questions you're otherwise going to have.

Taking the rest action twice in one turn is allowed.

Taking the rest action twice in one turn is allowed.

Sometimes, it's even encouraged! :)

Especially by the Imperial if there is a ticking clock and it will slow down the rebels significantly

Exactly! :P

One of the new characters from the Jabba's Realm expansion - Onar Koma, has a specific trait that doesn't allow him to rest twice per activation. However, once wounded, this trait is removed, so he CAN then rest twice per activation once he is in a wounded state. He is the only hero with this limitation that I am aware of.

It's not a trait , it's an ability, non-advantageous in this case. (All text on cards and hero sheets are referred to as abilities.)

Trait refers to a different thing in Imperial Assault.

Onar Koma is just an example that abilities can affect the core rules.

Related Pro Tip: Descent and IA are not the same game. They share some mechanics and aesthetics, but the rules are different in too many places to be called the same game or even a reskin. Don't assume you know the rules for IA because you've read the rules for Descent. This screwed up my game group when I first started playing this game because our Imperial player played a lot of Descent so he thought he knew the rules for IA.

Also...

What?

Answer to my own question from page 3 of the RRG:

"During a figure's activation, it may perform two actions. The available actions are Attack, Move, Interact, Rest, and Special."

"A figure can perform the same action multiple times during the same activation, except as follows:"

--"A non-hero figure can use only one of its actions to perform an attack per activation."

--"A figure can perform each special action only once per activation."
