So whats the story for Jabba's Realm?

By DarthBahamut, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Dont need mission details or the maps. Just wondering how they justify Luke meeting Jabba and etc.

Do we finally get to use RGC and IG-88 more?

Wouldn't it be a detail telling you whether Luke meets Jabba or not?

The Nemeses class deck should allow to use unique villains more often, and not just in this campaign.

If you're not going to tell me, then don't bother posting.

Ive only played the campaign solo and I tend to skip the lore when playing solo.

But basically you start out doing missions for Jabba.

Then in the Moment of Fate interlude you choose to either continue working for him or betray him. But regardless, you will still either end up either storming his palace or fighting for your life at the pit of carkoon.

The main recurring villains are Captain Terro and Jabba. Luke shows up in one mission, but it is a supporting role and not central to the story.

Tip to save you time: You can ignore posts instead of spending time and your precious energy writing a response that says you don't want to read responses.

If you're not gonna ask the right questions, don't bother asking?

Basically, and this comes from before the campaign in the book anyway- there isn't a set time period of the campaign. If he and Jabba meet up at some point, I guess it'll just be a non canon event (so much as in ALL Imperial Assault is technically non-canon, but this would be especially off the grid).

Spoilers for a mission below

There is a mission where Luke appears during the campaign. Technically, if heroes have earned Han, they could bring him, too, thanks to lack of time period. Having Jedi Luke, Han, and Jabba all in one place at the same time is pretty much entirely impossible in the lore, but it seems like Imperial Assault is forgoing lore for fun, now.

There was a big hoopla when Greedo/Obi-wan/Inquisitor was released about the absence of time periods.

Other’s supported it, others didn’t.

Right now, anything goes. No justification required, FFG is currently supporting a more: “open-ended play experience.”

Thats a real **** shame. Whats the point of the story if they are just going to **** on the canon?

Sorry, I didn't know I was speaking to robots.

Is that better for you?

IG-88 and RGC are not used in the story missions.

Luke and Jabba do show up in the same mission but they don't actually "meet".

Do the rebel rangers appear in the campaign (card tokens etc.)? I accidentally bough the enforcers villain pack with Bespin assuming all the packs were part of that campaign.

I was originally against the no time periods thing because I thought that if any game should stick to the lore it should be IA. The campaign structure really lends a RPG element that helps to immerse the players, you take that away and I think you are taking away from the experience. But on the flip side, getting to actually use characters like Obi-Wan, or Jedi Luke on Hoth or whatever else comes down the pipeline is actually pretty fun and as the message says, leaves things entirely open ended fro the Rebels. So now it is up to you, if you want to play it thematically or the complete opposite, or somewhere in between, it is entirely up to you.

I tend to think of it like we did as kids playing with the action figures. If you want to adhere to cannon then obviously leave certain characters out. But I find it a ton of fun to enjoy the whole game. Its not really a matter of right or wrong but personal preference.

Spoilers for the campaign:

Yes, they appear.

Agreed. Give the power to the players, no reason not to. Obi Wan doesn't magically appear in ANY campaign mission unless the Rebels specifically chose him. So, there's no reason his presence should bother anyone.

Spoiler for Jabba's Realm:

Still, I can see how Luke's presence as a Jedi in JR irritates people, since he is not optional.

Spoilers for Jabba's Realm:

Might want to double check that. Pretty sure IG-88 shows up in at least one mission.

Thank you. I am not going to buy the Luke model, just use the core game one.

I have both "A Light In The Darkness" and "Sympathy For The Rebellion" in my deck, so I could potentially see Luke 3 times, once as a farmboy and twice as Jedi Luke. Seems like Luke spent a lot of time practicing with the force and plotting against Jabba to get the rescue just right.

I would likely remove sympathy for the rebellion from the available missions before drawing randomly for Jabba's Realm.

I don't have an issue with this or Obi-Wan or stuff like that, but I wish they'd kept time periods and had the rule say "ignore this time period if you want to include". I know I can decide that myself, but my OCD hates that there are now some cards that have time periods and other don't that should.

IG-88 is used in one of the story missions.

Although with the magic of the new Nemesis class deck, ALL of the game's villains become relevant again!
