Rebel Escalation list idea

By BCooper85, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys,

Got an escalation tournament coming up in February so starting to mull things now.

I've been flying Rey a lot recently and have done very well with her so she seems the logical way to start things of:

Rey with title, Kanan, Finn, VI = 55pts

Then I can fit in a VCX at the 90pt mark:

Rey with title, Kanan, Finn, VI = 55pts

Lothal Rebel = 35pts

Total = 90pts

At 120 I can upgrade the VCX and put a t-70 in:

Rey with title, Kanan, Finn, VI = 55pts

Lothal Rebel with FCS, Hera = 38pts

Red Sqd Vet = 26pts

Total = 119pts

Finally at 150 I can add another t-70 and upgrade them both as well the VCX:

Rey with title, Kanan, Finn, VI = 55pts

Lothal Rebel with FCS, Hera, Zeb and Autoblaster turret = 41pts

Red Sqd Vet with R2 and IA = 27pts

Red Sqd Vet with R2 and IA = 27pts

Total = 150pts

Can I get some thoughts please? I'm sticking to ships I know I can fly well.

Do I go heavier on Rey and lighter on the VCX or vice versa?

Will the t-70's pull their weight? (I think they would)

Rey with title, Kanan, Finn, VI = 55pts

I'm pretty sure that in the official Escalation rules you need at least 2 ships in the first 60pt list.

So finding a way to squeeze another ship in there is a first step. Rey and a Z-95 would be the way to go but it messes the rest of your list up.

It might be difficult to fit the VCX in if you have to have 2 ships in the first round.

I really enjoyed the list building and the idea of Escalation but when I got to play a tourney I found it quite difficult to remember the changes to your own list from round to round while trying to figure out the opponents list. If I were to do it again I would try to add ships without changing existing ships when possible. It's tricky when you're not only adding new ships but existing ships fly differently with new upgrades.

I've read it helps to think of the first round as what you would want in the "Endgame". Your regen aces etc. It's the only place you can fit an expensive ship into the list too so Rey has to be there in the first round and she's not a bad ship to have in the endgame. :)

I do enjoy flying Rey but I've also thought about just having a cheaper VCX as your one large ship. You could fit a Lothal Rebel and a Blue Squadron T-70 in at 59pts or build out the full 42-48pt VCX build with a Z-95 and it wouldn't have to change from round to round.

And if you're playing all four rounds it is a long day! Food and water, as people always advise, is a good idea. :)

Thanks for the reply buddy, the two ship rule was only pointed out to me very late last night so back to the drawing board!
