TIE Bomber in Episode VIII

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in X-Wing

LEGO has confirmed it will be releasing a First Order TIE Bomber in 2017, while not a definitive indicator that it will make an appearance in the next Star Wars movie, it does strongly point to it.

More of Episode VIII from director Rian Johnson.

And while I have your attention,

I KNEW it! Luke is a Russian spy!

The threat to our Empire is REAL!

Hope it has different features, we don't need more clone ships. Although maybe I won't mind, since I am a lot more familiar with the Bomber and will pick up small details more distinctly.

A Bomber with Shields and Tech...

...could be interesting.

( though pushes Punishers further out into the cold )

A bomber with sloops, some shielding, a better dial and tech slot would be very welcome.3 greens maybe, or is it that too much?

Bombers is second part of the trilogy? Sounds familiar ;)

Maaaaaan I really hope they do something more interesting than a pallette swap and minor changes to the greeblies for this one. The /sf was so disappointing compared to the concept art.

Is it not a but soon for a new bomber given that Imperial Veterans is still quite new?

It wouldn't be a new bomber, it'd be a TIE/fo bomber, i.e. a completely different ship, probably with a better dial, tech slot and maybe a shield, for more points.

Maybe there will be a harrowing cat-and-mouse scene where Rey and Chewie in the Falcon have to hide out in something, some sort of debri field in space, while First Order bombers drop charges all around them while searching for them.

This new things they could do with this trilogy are endless!

i honestly hope that doesnt come to xwing. I dont see any reason for it, we'll just have another T65/T70 issue of one is always superior to the other except for that ONE PILOT being the exception.

If its just a buffed up bomber (6hull 1-2 shields sloops and tech) then two things will happen:

1) Punisher dies another death. How you kill that which is dead is beyond me.

2) Regular bomber will either vanish, or still be all over the place. Vanish due to the new Bomber being insanely good, or still be preferred because its being way cheaper outweighs the tech slot.

But, its new movie stuff, so you know its coming. Le sigh...

All over the place?

I don't think I've seen a non-shuttle bomber at a tournament since before Veterans.

Can't tell if you are talking about Biggs or Poe to be honest. Both X-Wings are underwhelming at the moment.

I don't think we have too many issues with Tie/Ln and Tie/FO. Both ships have their place.

Biggs.

I see T70s fairly often. Theyre not underwhelming, they just arent auto-win powerful, Heaven forbid you actually have to fly a ship proper to make it sing!

I literally never see a T65 unless its either Biggs or im flying them (Tarn Mison gets used a lot for me)

Would the tech slot not be a good base to provider target locks for cheaper older bombers? ;-)

Well, mathematicaly (if we really want to go there) generic T-65s are superior. boost and t-roll aren't worth much on a generic, either. Unique pilots are relatively balanced. Most are trash for both ships, but there is Wes Janson, losing his 5 seconds of fame from the U-Boat meta but still fine, and there is Nien Nunb. Both are alright (they aren't Braylen) stress-bot carriers, but Wes has better PS and an ability that matters on every single attack he makes. There is Tarn and there is Jess.

My best guess is that the only reason you are seing more T-70s is that people follow the cult of the new and there just has been an expansion with them.

So for me T-65 versus T-70 the generics go to the T-65, the low PS uniques do, too, with Biggs and Tarn (and Hobbie, sometimes, when I want to run X-Wings for the sake of it), only the very top end goes to the T-70, mostly (actually only) because of Poe and the ability to equip Autothrusters (who IMO are just bloat on most sub-30 point pilots when they limit your main ship - not an issue when the X-Wing is your main ship itself). Noting that Wes Janson does come close anyways, though. He at least beats the other T-70s.

Wes Janson is looking perky as the increase in token stacking makes him more appealing. /x7 Defenders and Dengaroo are quite vulnerable to his tricks not to mention Poe if we get into Blue-on-Blue action.

Hotshot Copilot has stolen his playbook to some extent but only works on Focus whereas Wes can deny any tokens he likes.

I haven't thought about removing OCR4s ability from Dengar with Wes. That is pretty great if thats the popular flavour of Dengaroo around you!

*yawn*

I like it. Makes sense that the First Order would continue development of the different starfighters.

Give me more bombers and more bomber pilots. Please.
