Struggling with a refionals list, considering the dark side - 4 TLTs

By MacchuWA, in X-Wing Squad Lists

But a slightly different flavour to the standard:

Roark Garnet, TLT. 25 points.

Gold Squadron, TLT. 24 points.

Gold Squadron, TLT, R4-D6. 25 points.

Gold Squadron, TLT, R3-A2, BTL-A4. 26 points.

Roark puts someone up to PS 12 in case of Whisper, or to get the occasional PS kill on those pesky x7 cockroaches hanging around on one hull. The stresshog hurts attani lists, and diminishes the effectiveness of defenders , strikers etc., as well as potentially getting lucky vs Wardens and other action bomb droppers/slammers. R4-D6 is there to lead the pack, providing a hard to kill range one target.

Thoughts? I'm mainly concerned about whether R4-D6 is likely to be valued vs a PS bid (against wardens, mostly), and if anyone has any tactical ideas about how to fly 4 TLTs in the modern game? I've never done it before.

All the usual TLT Y-Wing strategies still apply - space them out, focus fire etc - but with Stressbot 9000 in there you might want to stay bunched up and intentionally block him to slow him down and reduce the liklihood that he is outmaneuvered. As for R4-D6, no, it isn't worth it - a standard R2 unit will be much more useful for the 1pt, and there's also argument for R5's on Y-Wings, since they have a lot of hull.

If you're set on taking the list, I'd tweak it slightly - take the astromechs off of the normal Y's and give Roark a 1pt crew - Intel Agent might help with target planning, or Inspiring Recruit to give Stressbot a chance at getting turned around.

However, while it's a different take on it...it's still four TLT's, and I think playing it will be as boring for you as it is for your opponent.
