Dual Punishers

By RampancyTW, in X-Wing Squad Lists

List is exactly what the title says. Redline and Deathrain decked out in glorious, overzealous, explodey, inefficient splendor. It's fragile and can be tough to fly, but is extremely fun and usually results in quick games.

The list:

Deathrain(26)(51 Total):

Adv. Sensors(3)

Extra Munitions(2)

Homing Missiles(5)

Advanced Proton Torpedoes(6)

Proton Bomb(5)

Connor Net(4)

LRS(0)

Redline(27)(48 Total):

FCS(2)

Extra Munitions(2)

Plasma Torpedoes(3)

Assault Missiles(5)

Cluster Missiles(4)

Proton Bomb(5)

Guidance Chips(0)

Basic premise is everything in front of you is a giant NO GO sign for anything that can't focus you down before you shoot, with bonus NO GO behind you due to Proton Bombs. With Adv. Sensors Deathrain has some pretty crazy bomb placement ability and reposition options, and Redline does Redline stuff if left alone too long. With Plasma Torps and Assault Missiles on Redline, she's dangerous to a variety of lists and approaches, and with APTs and Homers on Deathrain there is no dead zone to avoid the pain.

Weaknesses:

Whisper

Dengaroo

RAC

Anything PS8 or higher

Effectiveness

Strengths:

Swarms

Low-AGI ships

Anything PS5 or lower

FUN

Hope some others can get some enjoyment out of this!

I have only run "Deathrain" a couple of times, and I have never run "Redline." I usually just run two generics with a support shuttle. I am definitely going to give this a try!

This looks hilarious!

I personally quite like Deathrain, the bomb shenanigans are hilarious. I've Conner Netted a Palpshuttle off the board.

As soon as I can borrow someone else's Punisher i want to try this.

It's a brave man who takes a Punisher in a list. It's a braver one who takes two.

It's an insane fool who flies THREE GLORIOUS BRICKS:

'Three Glorious Bricks'

'Redline' (TIE Punisher)

-Fire Control System

-Guidance Chips

-Proton Torpedo

-Cluster Missile

-Extra Munitions

39pts

'Deathrain' (TIE Punisher)

-Enhanced Scopes

-Long-Range Scanners

-Conner Net

-Cluster Mine

-Extra Munitions

37pts

'Cutlass Squadron Pilot' (TIE Punisher)

-Accuracy Corrector

-Long-Range Scanners

24pts

Spreads the points out a little, while losing none of the firepower or the fun. The little Cutlass runs blocking duty - with Accuracy Corrector he's free to boost around and be annoying, while still contributing damage.

I ran a variant of this when the Punisher was first released, and it was a hilarious (if short) game. If you have three, give it a try :)

I'd drop some ordnance to fit in a vlocler/distraction like Wampa personally. I think it looks like a lot of fun though.

'Cutlass Squadron Pilot' (TIE Punisher)

-Accuracy Corrector

-Long-Range Scanners

24pts

You know, if you're using it as a pure gunboat, Lightweight frame might be interesting. You can fit in three cutlasses accuracy corrector and lightweight frame, and still have 22 points to dish out some cluster missiles and reloads.

Similar in principle but with greater Imperial Conformity Points, for moral victories of oppression.
