Basically Aftermath: Life Debt

By Greebwahn, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi everyone!

I'm loving this Han build:

Han Solo (46)

Expertise (4)

Millennium Falcon (Evade Version) (1)

Gunner (5)

C-3PO (3)

Engine Upgrade (4)

He boosts if he can get out of arc or else evades. All other actions are covered.

I also love this Norra build:

Norra Wexley (29)

PTL (3)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

Kyle Katarn (3)

R2-D2 (4)

Vectored Thrusters (2)

She easily gets all 3 of her actions and a regen.

However together it is 4 points too much. So, do I ditch R2 off Norra, or EU, Gunner, or Expertise off Han?

I do have other wingmates for them both, but I love the two of them so much I'd like to fly them together.

Thanks!

I think the best way to shed the points without losing the effectiveness of either ship too greatly is either to drop Gunner from Han, or drop Kyle and Vectored Thrusters from Norra, and then give them Nien Nunb to maximise their ability to shed stress (more options for Han to reactivate Expertise, or more options for Norra to clear stress and regen).

Of the two, I'd go for swapping out Gunner - Norra stands to lose too much from dropping both Kyle and VT's, I think.

So, out of interest, did you actually read Aftermath: Life Debt?

I read the first Aftermath, and the writing was generally so poor that I had trouble finishing it. Is the second worth checking out?

On to the list:

I agree that Gunner should be the one to go. While it is nice to get the second shot if Han and Expertise fail you, that shouldn't happen very often. And while Han will still be a threat without Gunner, Nora loses a lot if she loses Kyle and VT; no repositioning, and no free Focus. Whether you put Nien on Han, or another one point crew is up to you, but I think that losing anything else isn't going to let you keep the punch that the list currently has.

You can put on bb8 instead of r2d2 and vectored thrusters, but you lose regen. I love regen, but letting go of EU on han can badly. I dont know, play test both and see how you go :)

I mean gunner. My bad. Against high agility ships, that second shot can be the death of them. Think of it like zuckus. Rerolling green dice is super bad

I think the writing was better enough to warrant the read. Either way, the story was much better, even if its not the most brilliant literary work hahah.

As to all the other suggestions, I agree that I don't want to lose Kyle, but would switching to BB-8 and ditching VT a safe gamble what with how easy she is to hit?

Also, is the EU worth keeping over gunner on Han? It seems that that is a consensus.

Thanks again!

EU will allow Han to dodge arcs, which is something that the 1ag Falcon really appreciates. So, if you feel that you'd rather have the offense over defense, then keep Gunner, IMO.

As for BB-8? I can work, as it leaves you without stress at the beginning of each round. So does give you plenty of options for maneuvers, and even nets you an extra Focus. Not sure ultimately if taking away Norra's regen is worth it though. While it puts even more of a target on Han's back, it also means that Norra can be focused down pretty easily. Again, I feel that it's a matter of offense over defense.

And thanks for the book review! I was honestly just disappointed with the use of present tense and the repeated death scares, but if you say that the plot is better, I enjoyed some of the characters enough to give the series another chance.

this is a little bit different:

Han Solo (58)
YT-1300 (46), Expertise (4), C-3P0 (3), Kanan Jarrus (3), Millennium Falcon (Segnor's Loop Version) (1)

Norra Wexley (42)
ARC-170 (29), R5-P9 (3), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Push the Limit (3), Jyn Erso (2), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

Idea here would be to use Jyn to stack a couple tokens on either Norra or Han depending on who needs them, then PtL for TL/BR as needed. You get the regen from R5-P9 and aren't tied to green moves b/c Kanan will help open up Norra's dial as well as allow to Han to use the S-loop and still have Expertise (not on the same turn but as needed). You lose the EU on the Falcon so I think it is better to take the S-Loop title to be able to better dodge people's arcs. I personally think it might be better to have Lando rather than 3P0 w/o the evade title, but I like to roll dice.
