K-2SO

By evanger, in X-Wing

Where is he? He stole the show!

Surely must be coming as a crew card. Have no idea why he wasn't with the U-wing (especially as a pilot AND crew).

What else are we "missing" from Rogue One, and where could K-2SO show up in the future?

Certainly X-wing and Y-wing pilots could be added from the movie.

Perhaps a "Heroes of Scarif" expansion? Or the much speculated "Rebel Veterans"?

Can we expect an expansion a bit like "Most Wanted", in that pilot cards (and base tokens and dials) are present for ships not included as miniatures that expansion?

I would love a set with alternate paint scheme X-wing and Y-wing, more pilots and droids, along with new U-wing stuff for K-2SO as pilot and crew.

we're also missing Donnie Yen, and Bodhi deserves a lot better

Bodhi got what he deserved. a grenade to the face. I didn't like him very much obviously.... I think they could have spent a little more time building him up as he was a throw away for me. Maybe it was the actor.... I don't know...

Donnie Yen needs to be in here though, he's awesome. And expertise should be called "One with the Force".

I think the problem was that all of this was worked on before the movie came out. I think if they worked on the U-wing after rogue one came out there would have most definently been a K2S0 card or 2.

K2SO should have been a PS4-6 Pilot option, as well as crew. He had a bigger role in the film than either Heff or Bistan.

I'm sure we'll see a crew version soon, much like BoShek is coming in the QuadJumper.

Heff had no role in the film.

Heff had no role in the film.

He was the comedic relief of the film -- the Jar Jar Binks, if you will. If you didn't like him, we can always tell Disney we want to bring Binks back. I, for one, like the trend of using droids for the comedy aspect.

To be fair, how good could a blind crew member be??

To be fair, how good could a blind crew member be??

how good could can a blind person be with the weirdass bowcaster weapon thing he had?

turns out, it's "very"

now true, he didn't go anything ship-related while aboard the U-wing, butttttttttttt neither did Jyn

or Baze, but his card more accurately reflects that

I am sure K2-SO will show up when FFG can perfect the sarcasm mechanic.

I, for one, was really hoping this U-wing expansion introduced a link to an optional, like Epic, ground game.

Landing, inserting troops. AT-ATs, AT-STs, etc.

He should have a 'buy time' type mechanic. Similar to Reikaan in Armada (can't remember if there are analogues in X-Wing).

E.g.

"When a friendly ship within range 3 receives damage cards equal to it's hull total, it is not removed from play until the End Phase"

or he's a secondary weapon, because you give him a "blaster" (an ATTACK)

Good question. The prototype production shot I got from when rouge one ships were first announced I was able to see something but then again a lot of things have changed since anouncement. Pilot skill 3 is no longer a Lt. something for example.

Heff had no role. HEFF TOBBLER

Witty quips aside, K2SO was a great enabler at the right moment, freeing up the team's options when they really needed it,, so how about:

K2SO crew, rebel only, unique. 2 points. During the end phase you may remove one stress token.

I think he should be a discard remove stress and give a free action - 2 points.

nah we got cass and kannan for that basically

besides, he's a strategy analysis droid or something

have him slap off a defensive token from an enemy in arc at the beginning of combat!

I think he was referencing Heff Tobber.

Pilot skill 3 is no longer a Lt. something for example.

Lt. Shraes. Don't know about the English version, but the Polish leaflet that comes with U-wing references him as one of the pilots included in the set.

Guess the translation was done off an earlier version of the text.

On the topic of K-2SO himself, including his Asperger in the card's mechanics would be a great touch.

Something like:

At the end of the Planning phase, you must say aloud your ship's bearing (and speed?), or receive a stress (ion?) token.

Blah, blah, blah some positive stuff.

That said, I highly doubt there will be any more Rogue One sets coming, that would include Rebel Crew, The other two non-Epic Rebel ships that were in the movie - have no Crew slots.

Sure, but we never see him fill that sort of role in the movie.

Except the grenade scene. Maybe he could reposition enemy bombs as an ability! ;)

My guess is that she's the U-Wing pilot on Scarrif that Bistam was the door gunner on and there was addition footage that was cut from the release version of the movie. I mean Bistam was on screen for what 3 seconds and he gets a crew card and a Lego mini figure! (U-Wing Lego set is awesome BTW!)

I'd like to see K-2SO as a red dice version of C-3PO!

That... would be awesome actually.

It was Laren Joma. Apparently Heff Tobber is a Blue Squadron X-wing pilot: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Heff_Tobber .

I guess Lt. Shraes was a name made up by FFG, but at some point before the release they got a Blue Squadron pilot name from Lucasfilm so they replaced it. The question is why didn't they give FFG a name of an actual U-wing pilot :P
