Old Republic is far superior imo to the trilogy or tfa era. The ship design is amazing and best of all its not hardlocked to the same story that popped up in the 70s so it can actually have some variety!

No way we'd get Old Republic ships though. Far as i know Old Republic isnt canon, its just game theme stuff.

I wouldn't expect much originality out of Episode 8. I mean, we didn't get any in Episode 7, lol. Heck, they stole a scene from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

I have yet to see a original design for Disney Wars.

I will definitely buy a totally-not-original black FO Interceptor. But the concept TIE/sf is gorgeous and should make it to the SW Universe (or XWMG)

I feel dirty for liking the Old Republic ship, but it looks great. The only con is the small cockpit.

The cockpit isn't that small.

I super understand the desire to visually link the new movie to the original trilogy. I get it. Updating the X-Wing and TIE Fighter made a great deal of sense.

The TIE S/F was created for the same reason as the TIE Advanced: to give a visually distinct fighter to important characters. The gears and antenna they added to the basic TIE F/O were simply too subtle to register for even dedicated fans. Most people didn't realize they were different ships.

However!

And:

This is a classic Star Wars silhouette. It is reminiscent of both the TIE Advanced and the TIE Interceptor. It is also _very_ different from the basic TIE shape.

I wish they'd used it. I hope they still do.

Saw an article saying there will be TIE Bombers in episode 8. Black hull, white wings, tech slot and sheilded bomber? Oh baby, it hurts so good...

In fact, it's quite a big ship.

I thought it was more fighter-size...
