when you did it to someone else

By X Wing Nut, in Star Wars: Armada

the other day I was playing a game Jamming Barrier was the objective.

I had 2 GR75s flying towards an ISD. My opponent was lining up his ISD to take them out. The ISD just activated it was Medium range of 1 of my GR75 but it was behind the dust field and could not be shoot at so it just moved forwards. After my GR75 next activation it would cross the Dust Field and be close Range of the ISD and s*** out of luck. and my other would drop the round after. But there was just enough luck left as 1 of the 3 Y Wing it was pushing landed a crit and I had the man him self Dodanna and wouldn't you know it one of the crits I had to pick from was Blinded Gunner. My opponent didn't mind to much as he let slip he had a repair command next. He had a smile on his face knowing that both my GR75s would soon drop. Then I moved my GR75 and taped Slicer Tools and flipped his Repair to a Squadron command. Both my GR75s lived and the ISD went down in flames from my Bombers and AF fire. If he had of taken out my GR75s my other 2 ships with 1-2 hit points left would have dropped and he would have won the game. In the end I only lost 1 squadron

It felt so dirty doing that to my opponent and it was only his second game but some times things just work your way

When have you been the crusher of hope?

the crusher of hope?

Totally stealing this

My opponent pulled out every trick in the book and did about 8 damage to my ISD, I then activated targeting scramblers and asked for a re-roll.

When he tried to use the accuracy I pointed out the modify dice step was long gone. Braced the damage and took it.

The dummy spit was immense. Still, I don't think he has read the rules even now.

Every time I arc dodge with a Home One I feel like that. Any time I have Yavaris against a new guy I feel like that.

Dummy spit?

Tantrum. Screaming Fit.

In Australia (and some parts of Europe, I guess), a Pacifier would be referred to as a Dummy... So he spat out his pacifier and started crying, as the comparison.

My favorite incident I pull out for all of these threads: That One Time I trashed an ISD from 100% to dead in one activation. Opponent had just gotten done putting a nice paint job on the ISD, it was only like the second or third time either of us had had one on the table...

Double side arc with an Ackbar MC30T with ACM and TRC, into the nose of an ISD1.

The guy quit Armada shortly thereafter. I felt a little bit bad about that. :J

Mon Karren and Home One scissored my Raider. It was in Karren's front arc, but if it would have moved, it would be in Home One's side arc. Except that I had Ozzel and a maneuver token + dial. From Speed 2 it jumped to 4, and gracefully maneuvered in the side arc of Mon Karren AND front arc of Home One. As they all were already activated, my Raider activated first in the next round, shot glorious rounds of black dices into both ships and flown away from harm's way to hunt down his flotilla in the next round :)

To rub in the salt, my Interdictor just avoided Mon Karren's front arc and my Demolisher ended up right in its buttocks at the end of the round.

Slicer Tools are the sole reason i keep either Leia around or Defense Liaison and a token. If you slice my command token to something else and its not critical i get that nav or engi dial, i'll deal with it. Otherwise im spending a token and still getting my nav/engi off you hacking finkrat! Odds are getting a squadron (without hangars that is) or open fire command dial off isnt gamebreaking, but the engi/nav could be.

that is why I hate Targeting Scramblers

I haven't played with or against Targeting Scramblers yet, so I may need someone to quick explain how the timing of it works so I can use it effectively, and understand when it's used against me.

And sorry, I don't have a Hopecrusher story. The games I've played, I either lose pretty badly, or I've won but nothing spectacularly done worth mentioning. At least not yet. Maybe I'll have something to share once my group's Corellian Conflict gets going.

The Enemy can use it when they are spending Defense Tokens

It resolves immediately, as long as the Defending Ship is at Close Range to the Attacker, and the Interdictor is at Distance 1-3 of the Defender (or is the Defender)...

You Roll your Attack Dice.

You Modify Your Attack Dice (Including Spending ACC results to lock down defense tokens)

The Enemy Spends Defense Tokens & Targeting Scrambler. The Targeting Scrambler resolves immediately, just like an Evade Token.

Any Rerolls that result in ACC results are (essentially, in a non-SW7 World) Rendered useless, as you are past the point where you may Spend them to lock down Tokens.

Then move on to the damage steps, as per usual.

(Resolve Critical, tally Damage, apply damage 1 point at a time).

Ackbar Defiance MC80 with Enhanced Armament and a CF command dialed in. Ten dice coming at my Demo, and eight of them showing double hits, hits, or crits, for a total of twelve damage. My opponent is, to put it politely, rather jubilant...

I declare Targeting Scramblers on four of the red dice, and Every. Last. One. turns up blank. I brace the remaining four damage down to two, and redirect that to the side shield.

My opponent is, to continue to put it politely, rather less than jubilant.

He makes to move his ship, having no further targets. I use G-8 Projectors to drop him to speed 0, which leaves him tee-d up for the Demo next turn.

My opponent is now, it seems, quietly consulting an imaginary friend - or perhaps a spirit guide - on where I can stick my ship.

I activate my 'dictor, and use Projection Experts to restore the two missing shields from the Demo.

My opponent, at this stage, has decided to demonstrate how many colours of purple and red his face can turn. His language was equally colourful, albeit much more blue.

Hi, I'm Dex, and I enjoy control play.
