After Action Report: Solonia

Overview of preceding events:

1/6 - Naval Intelligence confirms recent reports of terrorist activity in the Corellian system. In response Grand Admiral Mitchell is granted univeral command of naval operations in the system. The 117th Fleet commanded by Admiral Schwimmer, and The 87th Fleet commanded by Admiral Engel are assigned to help secure the system.

1/9 - Naval Intelligence received credible reports of a planned insurrectionist assault on the unsecured planet of Solonia. Supreme Commander of the Corellian system, Grand Admiral Mitchell ordered Admiral Schwimmer and the 117th Fleet, an Anti-Fighter task force, to defend the planet from any organized attack. Due to a fortuitous solar corona the 117th Fleet was able to jump directly into the hostile formation.

Imperial Forces:

Imperial II Star Destroyer - Commander Motti, outfitted with electionic countermeasures

Arquitens Class Light Cruiser(A) - outfitted with Turbolaser Reroute Circuits

Arquitens Class Light Cruiser(B) - outfitted with Turbolaser Reroute Circuits

Gozanit Flotilla- carrying Repair Crews

Howlrunner's Tie/LN squadron

Bounty Hunter Dengar

Black Squadron Tie/LN squadron

One additional Tie/LN squadron

Saber Squadron Tie/IN squadron

Three additional Tie/IN squadrons

Enemy Forces:

MC30c intercepted enemy transmissions indicate the title of the ship is "Forsight" records indicate that known terrorist Gial Ackbar commands this ship.

Four Class A CR90 corvettes were encountered with the forsight. Repair crews believe that the damage done to the Imperial Star Destroyer was the result of Turbolaser Reroute Circuits, present on each ship. The investigation of how the terrorist acquired these weapons will be detailed in a separate report. In addition to the corvettes, 5 squadrons of RZ-1 interceptors and a HWK-290 light freighter. The HWK-290 is suspected to be the "Moldy Crow" a ship belonging to a local smuggler Jan Ors.

Battle Report:

Thanks to the unusual solar activity the 117th fleet was able jump into the enemy formation. The enemy fleet was arranged in a stepping stone pattern starting with the first CR90-A(1), followed by the Forsight and then the final three CR90-As;CR90-A(2), CR90-A(3), and CR90-A(4). The entirety of the enemy fighter escort was positioned between CR90(3) and CR90(4).

The 117th jumped in across from and behind CR90(3) and CR90-A(4). In front was the Light Cruiser(B) then in a mirror of the enemy formation came the Imperial Star Destroyer, the Gozanti flotillas, and in the rear the Light Cruiser(b). The entire Imperial squadron escort was in front of the Imperial Star Destroyer.

The defense of Solonia can be broken down into six important phases.

  1. The 117th sets a steady 2 engine advance on the rear of the enemy ships which inturn use their speed and maneuverability to begin an about face intending to attack the 117th. The terrost squadron screen rushes into the 117th's fighter escorts but does not fully engage.
  2. CR90-A(2) moves into assault position on the Imperial Star Destroyer. The destroyer in turn orders the Tie/IN squadrons along with Howlrunner's Tie/LN squadron to engage the enemy RZ-1s. The Tie/INs and Howlrunner eliminate two RZ-1 squadrons and damage a third. The rest of the enemy fleet made near top speed maneuvers to face or broadside the 117th.
  3. Ackbar's command leads CR90-A(3) and CR90(4) to land strong Turbolaser hits on the Star Destroyer. The Star Destroyer returned fire on CR90-A(3) dealing a small but precise hit. The forsight begins to angle into the battle but does not have range to attack any ship. Light Cruiser(A) fires a small salvo at CR90-A(4) but fails to make an impact.
  4. CR90-A(2) CR90-A(3) and CR90-A(4) fire damaging attacks against the Imperial Star Destroyer disabling its shields and damaging a wide swath of hull. The repair crews on the gozanti repair a small amount of damage but are over all ineffectual. In their scrambling attempts to evade the full force of the Star Destroyer's implement CR90-A(2) and CR90-A(3) crash and cause hull damage to each other. The Foright makes a damaging long range attack against the Star destroyer but does not destroy it. In cleaning up the rebel fighter escort one Tie/IN and Howlrunner's Tie/LN squadrons are destroyed.
  5. CR90-A(2) makes an innefectual final attack before trying to navigate to safety but is later destroyed by the bounty hunter Dengar and a supporting Tie/LN squadron. CR90-A(3) is destroyed by the Star Destroyer's forward battery, but the Forsight had managed to disengage from Light Cruiser(B) and fired a salvo that crippled the Star Destroyer.
  6. Light Cruiser(A) fires a destructive volley into CR90-A(1) destroying it before it coould escape. Enemy forces retreated.

Statement from commanding Admiral:

"Though my defense was successful the scarring of an Imperial Star Destroyer is a failure. As the 117th is an Anti-Fighter task I am not surprised by the outstanding performance of my tie squadrons. Once repairs and upgrades are finished on my destroyer I believe I can eliminate a similar enemy fleet with much fewer losses."

After Action Report: Forvand

1/10 - The Admiralty deems the extensive damage done to the Imperial-II class star destroyer an acceptable loss. Admiral Schwimmer is granted resources to improve his flagship's offensive capabilities. The ship is christened The Relentless

1/16 - Naval Intelligence verified reports of two unarmed mining stations operating illegally near the Forvand Array. Grand Admiral Mitchell authorized the 117th fleet to attack these illegal operations as a show of force. Admiral Schwimmer was authorized to requisition any illicit material that remained.

Imperial Forces:

Relentless - Imperial II Star Destroyer - Commander Motti, outfitted with Electronic countermeasures, Gunnery teams, Leading Shot Ion Canons

Arquitens Class Light Cruiser(A) - outfitted with Turbolaser Reroute Circuits

Arquitens Class Light Cruiser(B) - outfitted with Turbolaser Reroute Circuits

Gozanit Flotilla- carrying Repair Crews

Howlrunner's Tie/LN squadron

Bounty Hunter Dengar

Black Squadron Tie/LN squadron

One additional Tie/LN squadron

Saber Squadron Tie/IN squadron

Three additional Tie/IN squadrons

Enemy Forces:

Upon jumping into range of the Forvand array and the illegal stations, the 117th encountered a fleet of modified Mon Calamari ships including two MC80 Starliners, an MC30 Torpedo Frigate, and a flotilla of medium transport ships. Intercepted transmissions indicate one of the cruisers is identified as "Home One" the winged cruiser accompanying "Home One" was not identified. Captured survivors positively identified Crux Madine, an imperial defector, as the commanding officer of the fleet. In addition to the Mon Cal ships, there where 3 YT-1300 frigates and another HWK-290, the HWK-290 did not appear to belong to the smuggler Jan Ors.

Evaluation of battle data from the Relentless:

Home One - MC80 Assault Cruiser - Electronic Countermeasures

MC80 Battle Cruiser - XI7 Turbolasers, Quad Turbolasers, Gunnery Teams

MC30c Torpedo Frigate - Ordinance experts, XI7 Turbolasers, Assault Proton Torpedos

Bright Hope - GR75 Medium Transports - Comsnet

Three YT-1300 freighters

One HWK-290 Freighter

Battle Report:

The 117th fleet jumped into range of one of the two illegal mining stations. The relentless charged full speed at the unarmed station before slowing down just out side of range of the MC80 battle cruiser defending it. Between fire from the Relentless and the TIE/LNs, that were only engaged by and quickly dealt with the HWK-290, the station was destroyed with out issue. The MC80 Battle cruiser along with the MC30c managed to destroy both light cruisers. In its assault the MC30c sustained a great deal of damage, but jumped to hyperspace before being able to be scarred. In destroying the light cruisers the MC80 Battle cruiser moved into close enough range to be scarred by the Relentless. Upon the destruction of the battle cruiser the GR75 Transports jumped to hyperspace. "Home One" disengaged and fled the area as well as the YT-1300s. 80 Tonnes of resources where confiscated by the 117th Fleet, and a new Imperial base is being constructed to maintain imperial presence. This show of force will not soon be forgotten.
