Feedback array while cloaked

By Vitalis, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So now that we have Vizago its not only hypothetical anymore:

Can you use Feedback Array while cloaked?

I would say yes. Why? Cause of the blinded pilot ruling, that says you can use FA if blinded:

Cloak rule:

While a ship has a cloak token, it cannot perform attacks.

BP

You cannot perform attacks. After your next opportunity to attack (even if there was no target for an attack), flip this card facedown.

So you could have a G-1A or a HWK staying cloaked for the entire game while feedbacking itself to death. Hours of fun!

Better: you can have it cloaked the entire game, feedbacking itself ALMOST to death, then use the new crew guy to swap your feedback array for a Dead Man's Switch and decloak next round...

That in fact you cannot do. Vizago is one use - and that use is cloak>FA here.

Ah boo. It was a nice thought while it lasted.

What, no one likes to GONK after FA?

Find me small scum ship with 2 crew slots and illiclit and ill be more than happy to add gonk to the mix.

You cannot use Feedback Array if you dont have the opportunity to attack. Thats why you cannot use it while overlapping an asteroid, or with a weapons disabled token.

The rule that says you can use it while blinded refers to the one in the old deck, which actually allows you to attack. I guess when the TFA core came up, no one realized that and it stood that way.

I agree that we have to do what the FAQ says with blinded pilot, although it makes no sense. But it should be taken as an exception, not as a precedent.

Not as of the latest FAQ.

The Blinded Pilot one feels like an oversight right now and I lean towards agreeing that cloaked ships don't get an opportunity to attack, so can't use FA.

It feels a bit, true - but as RAW goes it stands.

P.S. Fluff speaking: it makes a lot of sense that invisible ship can zzzap you out of nowhere :)

Fluff speaking it makes no sense a ship without a cloaking device is invisible!

Blinded Pilot does not remove your opportunity to attack. It remove the possibility to attack. Read the Blinded Pilot. If it removed the opportunity you could not even flip it.

Now go read cloak rules: While a ship as a cloak token it cannot perform attack.

It is the same wording as Blinded Pilot. It does not remove your opportunity to attack, it remove the possibility to perform an attack during your opportunity.

Now, Feedback Array do not talk about Opportunity to Attack, so clearly it should not work with Blinded Pilot or Cloak. So yes the FAQ is weird in this regard.

Also, in Blinded Pilot faq, they imply that Asteroid remove the opportunity to attack, but the rules about Asteroid just say that you cannot perform any Attack, same wording as Blinded Pilot and Cloak.

In the end, there is something fishy they need to clarify there.

Edit: Big rewording and remove the wrong part about feedback array.
