Spectators at a System Open

By Mello13, in X-Wing

I'm planning on going to the San Antonio System Open later this month and a buddy of mine is road tripping down with me.

Does anyone know if there will space for him to hangout in the convention center? I've never been to an event like this, so I'm not exactly sure what the space outside the games will be like.

Actually i jave the same question. My fiancée want to come and watch but i am not sure if spectating is allowed or not.

Anybody know? I'm going to one in Feb and wouldn't mind having a companion.

Bump because it seems others are interested in knowing the answer.

I've been to a few events where by I've played against a father and his son or a guy whilst his girlfriend was right there but it does really depend on the venue.

For example, the one in Birmingham (Yavin?), has a ton of space despite having 450 plus in attendance but only on the outer tables. If you get the unfortunate occurrence of having to play on the inside tables then you will be a bit squashed for space.

Naturally, whilst they were OK to be in attendance as long as they did not disrupt anything, I did hear a TO remind someone that whilst his partner can be there, she CANNOT under any circumstances be seen to be offering advise or any kind of advantage. So I guess the main thing would be to polite ask your opponent.

That being said, the father / son combo was funny, especially when the kid said "Why are you doing a k turn dad? I would just do the two bank instead, its a way better move and he will never see it coming!"

Dials were set. Sighes were heard. Much laughter when the two bank placed his asteroid on a rock.
