The Corellian Campaign is the best thing to happen to Armada since the core set.

By WWPDSteven, in Star Wars: Armada

Yeah I think that'd be a really fun way to play it!

We started with 4 players and we had a blast and two more wanted to join, as it was round 1 we added the extra bases and as the two new guys are new (they have to borrow ships) the veteran admirals helped them with fleet builds and tactics.

We have a group app with maps and decisions being made there as well as a faction app where we discuss where to attack and i post Ackbar memes to bolster the trroops :)

their first game is tonight and i have 57 points to add to my fleet as it stands (if i dont build a base) and maybe more if my rebel team mate takes his target. Its more painful trying to decide what to take than the initial 400!

Playing a 6-player CC now: it's only round one, but it's a blast already. This really is the ****.

I just blew up a Rieekan fleet and two stations, earning us a boatload of resources, but man did he bleed me in the process!

So now I have hard choices to make: how much for repairs, how much for upgrades, can I afford a base?

Love it.

You can follow our progress in the battle reports sub forum.

It's been a great addition to the game. I think the FFG folks had planned Armada to run a lot like Xwing with the tournament scene being the dominant model. The long run time of the game though made tournaments feel a bit more like a slog though than a fun scene.

I feel like it's a game far more suited for campaigns and the choices therein because of its longer run time and further possible interactions within fleets and upgrades. Which I hope FFG continues to ramp up, because even after just a round the amount of planning and strategising has been immensely fun.

Cause they streamed it this weekend......

/s I was in chat all weekend.

Why don't you word your question differently? Instead of questioning his experience (expertise, which this is a game, come on) instead ask what brought him to this conclusion after his games which You followed.

To Wufame's defense, I caught on the sarcasm on the first read.

About CC: It looks like a crapload of fun, but my irregular work schedule means I'll never get to play it.

Anyone a few rounds in yet? I'm wondering how balanced the campaign will be if one team manages to pull ahead early. If that does happen, I'm worried that the other team will struggle to ever catch up.

Our's in Ohio kicked off very well...to the point I do my battle reports as if they are narrated by the clone wars narrator...

I agree CC has been the best thing to ever happen to this game.

I'm calling it now kids: Deep Core Campaign...with a courscant 6 x 4

I have seen a lot of miniature game campaign systems in the past, both official and player made and to be just outright frank every single one I have ever played in sucked and it sucked big and usually right out of the gate.

Do you mind expanding on this a bit? I only ask because I'm sure we've played some of the same campaigns as I have also played lots of miniature games and campaigns in the past, and almost every campaign I've played in has been a blast!

Every miniature campaign I've done in the past has always fallen to one side of the razor- it was either too complex to retain player interest or too simple to satisfy the itch. There's been some beautiful systems for sure! I've just always seen them suffer a few problems, and I think CC addresses many of them beautifully:

1) Too many players required. Wish I was that spoiled for choice, but 4-6 is about the max for me. I also like to do campaigns 1v1 as Cal and I did on the stream. Very doable with CC

2) Too complicated. I've played some where the campaign phases were just overly complex and required a bit too much math

3) Snowball effect. Too many campaigns reward winning early and it just becomes impossible for the behind team to catch up. This has always led to a complete lack of interest and it falls apart.

4) so lightweight it doesn't matter. Sometimes the campaign just feels like neat dressing added on top that sort of doesn't matter at all.

Just a few thought off the top of my head. Prior to CC, my favorite campaign system was Flames of War's Firestorm campaign system. Tons of fun.

As I am rewatching the Clone Wars with my son now, the thought of narration in this manner in your battle reports put a huge smile on my face. Thank you. :)
