Vizago and Azmorigan Break 100

By jmswood, in X-Wing

I just did the math on Vizago and Azmorigan. If you use Azmorigan to swap for a crew worth 3 points or more, or if you use Vizago to swap for an illicit worth 1 point or more, then you can effectively build a list over 100 points.

Example: Build a list to 100 points with Vizago and an Illicit equipped on a ship. (Let's assume Glitterstim. Everyone loves Glitterstim.) Discard Vizago and get a second Glitterstim, or another illicit worth two points or less. Now your list is 102 points.

So basically when the enemy uses one of those cards you can call the TO and get a fee win? :)

EDIT What a shocking surprise, no you can't :P

They both say "of equel or FEWER squad points"

Not more, so never above 100, just below what you may have started with.

... How?

You get rid of the first Glitterstim, replacing it with the same card.

You're still at 100 points.

Did you miss the whole "REPLACE an existing face up card" part?

I just misread the card. I thought you were replacing Vizago or Azmorigan, not the other upgrade.

Only Vizago for 100 point squads

I don't think you know what the card actually does. It will replace the Glitterstim in your example with a 2 point or less Illicit of your choice. Still same (or less) squad points.

Vizago and Azmorigan do not work on discarded "face-down" cards, so duping Glitterstim doesn't work.

It happens.. you see something, it makes you excited and things happen prematurely.

I should take a blue pill every time FFG anounces a new product.

It still leaves this question though: If I'm at 100 points and I replace a 2 point upgrade with a 1 point upgrade am I at 99 for purposes of MoV? Is my destroyed 35 point ship now only worth 34 because I swapped out an upgrade? I doubt it, but it will need clarifying just to be sure.

It does not need clarifying. The value of the ship is what is indicated in your squad list at the start of the match.

If you shot a Heavy Laser Cannon off a Firespray with a Munitions Failure critical hit, the ship's value doesn't magically drop by 7 points, it's the same as it was when the match started.

Show up with Hotshot Blaster, and then swap it out for whatever works best against your opponent that round. Tractor crane until there is one ship left, and switch to feedback array. Swap to Slicer tools once Zuckuss loads up someone with stress, switch to Deadman's switch when you have one HP left.

It is so delightfully trolly.

You can only swap once. "Discard this card".

Edit: Although, swapping to Deadman's Switch when you're at deaths door IS delightfully trolly. Especially if you have a Console Fire...

I agree that this is most likely how it is supposed to work, but it's not the same as Munitions Failure, discarded cards are still on the table, this card instructs you to swap a card from the table with one from "outside".

Exactly. It specifically says replace, not discard. We have a rule for discarding.

It's different enough that it should be clarified. I'm sure it's intended to not change the ship total, but we'll see.

It doesn't matter. The ship's value is still what is indicated in your squad list. That doesn't change during the game.

Only happens in Epic, though, because you have to discard Vizago in 100-point play. But Azmorigan is definitely trollish.
