When did the "W" become a "w"?

By Budgernaut, in Runewars Miniatures Game

One of the things I really liked about their marketing for this new game was that they capitalized the "W" to distinguish it from the board game of Runewars. This meant we didn't have to say "Miniatures game" or "board game" to distinguish the two. You could just say RuneWars or Runewars. Very clever, I thought. But as of today's article, I've noticed the "w" is no longer capitalized, going back through the old articles, it seems that every instance of "RuneWars" has been replaced by "Runewars." The only thing unaffected appears to be the twitter handle-thingy, #RuneWars. I wonder why the change.

Well I don't think it makes a huge difference since most search engines ignore that capitalization. The hashtag also ignores it, so it only made a difference for human readability. I agree that was a nice feature, but if I had a complaint, it would be that they used any version of Runewars at all. When I say Runewars out loud I still have to follow up with "the miniatures game" which just makes me like a salesman for the game. I just wish they had called it something else entirely. "Runebattles", "Terrinoth at War", "Armies of Terrinoth", literally anything other than Runewars. And yes, I know my name ideas are terrible too, but they pay people to come up with this stuff.

I like RuneWars as a term though, definitely cool.

Yeah i like the old writing also, maybe its a typo or the capital "W" is to expensive :D !? ...

Concerning the game title, i have to agree with Willange . Its a bit confusing when you don't say the product name altogether.
Just Runewars is to generally and could lead to a misunderstanding, which game you referring to.

Maybe we need some kind of fitting abbreviation? Like: RWTMG or RWMG !? ... Hm seems to be difficult, it isn't as cool as WoW or something like that xD.

RWM is how I abbreviate it.

Also, FFG homepage articles aren't the most consistent. Imperial Assault ones in particular seem to be put together by interns or something, they have a history of providing illegal card combinations as example plays... They also flip-flop between calling the third faction of that game "Mercenaries" (like it says in the rulebook) and "Scum" (which appears nowhere in any IA rulebook and is an X-Wing term).

Also, I have to reflect on just how hard FFG murdered the buzz around RWM that this board has devolved into threads focused around whether or not the game is spelled with a 'w' or 'W'.

This is very true. However, the thing that struck me was that they were very consistent. Every instance of the name of the game was spelled RuneWars. With the new article, I noticed it was spelled without the capital 'W' so I went to check all the other articles. I could find no consistency because they have removed nearly every single instance of "RuneWars." This isn't a case of typos; this is a case of changing the way the name of the game is represented. It's very peculiar. It would be like going through every old Imperial Assault article and seeing the faction "Mercenaries" completely replaced by "Scum" in every instance.

Which would make more sense since in X-Wing is called Scum and is a more broad term for non imperial non rebel units.
